The Biggest 2020 Jeep Gladiator Concerns After 6 Months

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator carries with it a reputation for being an off-roading champ. That’s great if you are going to be off-road all the time. But, what if a Gladiator purchase is for a daily driver, not just for traversing rock trails and water fording. How does a Gladiator due with everyday tasks? How does it do in real-life usage? Here are the biggest 2020 Jeep Gladiator concerns after six months.

The Freedom Top storage is cumbersome

The concept is one most people can get behind, a convertible truck. A topless ride can be therapeutic. The Freedom Tops allow the driver or passenger to have just their side of the tops off in the front. But where do the tops go when they are not needed? Unfortunately, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator does not have a storage spot behind the seats, or anywhere else, to put the tops into. So, as fun as having the wind in the hair is, unless you have a spot in your garage or storage unit for them, then the tops are left in the bed to slide our bounce around in.

Jeep Gladiator fuel efficiency

Towing a trailer with toys is going to affect the mileage of any vehicle. So, if you want to bring your jet skis with you, or haul work equipment, do not be surprised to see gas mileage drop under 10 miles per gallon. If the cargo is even heavier, then mileage can be even poorer. A hybrid option would certainly come in handy.

2020 Jeep Gladiator price point

The 2020 Jeep Gladiator used for the six-month review was a model in the Rubicon trim. So, right out of the gate, the Rubicon is going to be on the pricier side of the trim offerings. The Rubicons start at about $44,000. But, extra options or accessories can easily push that price skyward.

The Gladiator’s Lighting

As mentioned earlier, the Gladiator can be pricey, depending on how it is outfitted. Sadly, even the upscale Rubicon trim does not get the LED lighting as standard. It is an upgrade. For the price point, that is a surprise. But, keep in mind that upgraded lighting is often one of the first things that Jeep Wrangler people do, right after wheels and tires. Gladiator people are probably very similar.

Seating in the Gladiator

If the driver is of a Gladiator is tall, they might find their seating position awkward. The front seats do not go back far enough for a person over six-foot tall. So, driving in comfort becomes a matter of finding which position can be tolerated the longest.

Overall, the 2020 Jeep Gladiator is a capable vehicle for most everybody. But, if someone is considering purchasing one, they should be prepared to pay a pricey sum from their wallet. They should also consider, if they are tall, having a good long test drive in the Jeep, prior to the purchase. This will help them determine if they can be comfortable in it. Lastly, lighting may need upgrading if LEDs are expected.
