However, one of the best, reasonably priced luxury SUVs is the BMW X6. Here are some reasons why Kelley Blue Book thinks the 2021 BMW X6 is quite a bargain. 

BMW knows a thing or two about crafting a great luxury SUV

The 2021 BMW X6 is the latest addition to BMW’s X6 line and is set to be one of the most exciting cars of 2021. According to BMW’s website, the 2021 X6 M and M50i is powered by a powerful V-8 Twin Power Turbo engine and the 40i models come with a 6-cylinder engine with the option for 48V mild-hybrid technology. The 2021 BMW X6 is also capable of towing up to 7,200 pounds.

With its coupe-like body and powerful engine, the 2021 X6 is one of the sportiest SUVs on the market. The 2021 X6 is described as a sportier, more stylish version of the BMW X5.

As one of the pioneers of the SUV coupe design, the 2021 X6 experiences steep competition from other luxury midsized SUVs like the Audi Q8, Mercedes Benz GLE Class-Coupe, and the Porsche Cayenne Coupe.

What Kelly Blue Book loved about the 2021 BMW X6 

Kelley Blue Book (KBB) was very pleased with the BMW X6 when it came to how it drove during their road test. The 2021 X6 can transform into three luxury SUVs with just the click of a button.

The Eco mode transforms the 2021 X6 into a relaxed, comfortable luxury SUV with good fuel economy. With another click of a button, the 2021 X6 is transformed into a very sporty, luxury SUV which can take corners with high speeds and stability(especially the BMW X6 M) and go from 0 to 60 mph in an astonishing 3.8 seconds.

KBB also loved the thoughtfulness of the 2021 X6’s interior design. Coming standard with a luxury leather interior, the 2021 X6 has an amazing ability to blend both luxury, technology, and accessibility.

Furthermore, the 2021 X6 comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen BMW iDrive infotainment system. This system comes with satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto (which wasn’t available in the 2020 X6 according to U.S.News)

Where the 2021 BMW X6 underperformed 

One of the features that KBB wasn’t very impressed by was the stiffness of the 2021 X6 M. As a downside to the amazing grip of the 2021 X6, small bumps can be felt in the seats and steering wheels.

Furthermore, the design of the X6’s climate control panels fall behind in readability and are especially difficult to operate at night. Car and Driver also describes the 2021 X6’s infotainment system as not very user-friendly compared to its competitors.

KBB’s biggest complaint about the 2021 X6 is the lack of rear space — falling significantly behind both the competition and the BMW X5. The rear seats can seat 3 passengers, but 2 passengers are a lot more comfortable due to the limited rear space.

The 2021 X6 also has limited cargo space and loading the cargo area would require lifting items over a ridge. Additionally, U.S.News also describes how low rear visibility as an additional drawback. 

Why Kelly Blue Book thinks the 2021 BMW X6 is a bargain 

Compared to luxury, ultra-high performance crossovers with coupe-like exteriors, the 2021 X6 is priced very competitively. According to KBB, the 2021 BMW X6 costs $7,000 less than the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe and $22,000 less than the Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe.

Furthermore, compared to base models of other luxury SUVs like Audi Q8, Maserati Levante, and Range Rover Sport, the 2021 X6’s starting price of $65,050 is on-par with its competition.

It is rare that a car with a starting price of over $60,000 is called a value buy. But when you consider what you are getting for the price, the 2021 BMW X6 is truly a rare luxury value.
