Boy howdy, the 2021 Chevy Colorado is lookin’ good. Someone must have said it didn’t look mean enough, because it got one heck of a refresh. But its new confident look isn’t all that it has in store for us. Check out the significant updates of the 2021 Chevy Colorado.

2021 Chevy Colorado updates

Just in time to go on sale in the summer of 2020, the 2021 Chevy Colorado is arriving with a few incredible updates. Because the Chevy Colorado hasn’t received a refresh since 2015, it was time to get a newer look to remain competitive against rivals such as the Ford Ranger, Honda Ridgeline, Toyota Tacoma, and more.

The Chevy Colorado is coming out with a new special edition trim, a beefier ZR2 trim, the return of the Bison ZR2 trim, cosmetic updates to the front and rear, and much more. Each Z trim will be available with a new metallic sand dune color as well.

Each of the tailgates will feature “CHEVROLET” lettering instead of the bowties. The bowties in the front have been redesigned to match the larger grilles. The WT, LT, and Z71 options are each getting front skid plates, lower bumpers, and new center bars to improve differences among each trim.

The custom trim that’s available with the WT base model includes a body-color grille, door handles, mirrors, rear bumper, and 18″ aluminum wheels. The LT model is getting a Chrome Appearance package that includes chrome on the grille, door handles, rear bumper, beltline molding, and heated mirrors. But the mirrors will be manual instead of power-folding.

Chevy Colorado Z2R Updates

The most significant refresh is coming to the Chevrolet Colorado Z2R, which is the off-roading version. It’s getting a larger mesh grille that looks like the super duty Chevy Silverado with those larger, polarizing headlights.

It will have the CHEVROLET bar stamped across the middle, plus the lower fascia is broader and more in tune with the higher bumper on the front of the truck. Red tow hooks will also pop on the front, as seen on the Jeep Renegade, Ford Bronco, and Jeep Gladiator.

2021 Chevy Colorado price

Pricing has changed a bit for the 2021 Chevy Colorado because Chevrolet decided to drop the entry-level trim. The Work Truck base model trim or the Chevy Colorado WT will start around $26k, which is a $4k increase from the 2020 Chevy Colorado base model.

The Z2R off-roading trim is going up in price by $200 and now starts around $2,995. The LT trim is going up in price by $100, and the Z71 trim will have the same price. Pricing for rivals like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma hasn’t been released yet.

However, dropping the base model causes the 2021 Chevy Colorado to start at $1,000 more than the base model Ford Ranger, but it’s still cheaper than the Toyota Tacoma.

Also, the 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-four engine is with 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque returning. Other engine options include the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and the 3.6-liter V6 engine with 308 horsepower.
