The Chevy Silverado Realtree Edition Was Made for Hunters
For fans of the Chevy Silverado, there are many Chevy Silverado special editions to choose from. Chevy wants its trucks to be personal and customized. One special edition made in partnership with Realtree, a leading camouflage hunting equipment brand, was created especially for hunters and outdoors people. Read on to see more about its unique features.
The partnership between Chevy and Realtree
The Chevrolet and Realtree partnership started in the mid-2000s. They worked to design a truck for people who enjoy hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. Chevy and Realtree first introduced a concept version, based on the Duramax diesel-powered Silverado 2500 HD crew cab pickup, in 2011.
A later concept vehicle was called the Chevrolet Silverado Realtree Bone Collector Concept, and it was unveiled at the 2015 SEMA Show. That version was based on the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 High Country crew cab.
To create the special edition of the Silverado ready for the market, Chevy worked with Realtree, they are hunting and camouflage experts. The new Silverado Realtree Special Edition first debuted at the 2016 Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade Show in Las Vegas.
It then launched with the 2016 model year. It provided an alternative for people considering the Ram 1500 Mossy Oak Edition, which first appeared in 2011. That truck was also developed in partnership and aimed at the hunting and fishing market.
With the launch, Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing, said,
“The capability of Chevy trucks has always enabled customers to go where they want to go and that’s the inspiration for the new Silverado Realtree® Edition. Personalized for the outdoorsman, this great-looking, very capable Silverado offers another choice for customers looking for a truck with style, capability and dependability.”
Realtree Designer and President Bill Jordan added,
“Working with the team at Chevrolet on this new Realtree Edition Silverado really brought home to me just how important the right truck is for outdoor enthusiasts…. This truck has the perfect combination of features, comfort and safety – whether you’re driving around town, on the highway or off road.”
Silverado special features for hunters and outdoors people
The Chevy Silverado Realtree special edition was created to be perfect for all outdoor enthusiasts. It is available on the Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab LTZ Z71 model, which is already built for off-road use.
It has a black exterior featuring Realtree camouflage graphics and logos plus black Off-Road Assist Steps and blackout trim. Even the Chevy bowtie emblem is black.
It’s perfect for parking in a wooded area. It comes with Z71 badging that is larger than usual. And it has 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tires. The interior is black leather-appointed with leather seats. It features the Realtree logo embroidered on the head restraints and camouflage accents.
The LTZ trim that this special edition is added to is the second-highest level, so it comes standard with heated and cooled leather seats, dual-zone climate controls, touchscreen infotainment system, LED lights, and projector beam headlights. It has a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Z71 package, which was designed specifically for off-road use, has an upgraded suspension, underbody transfer case shielding and four-wheel drive. It also has hill descent control, recovery hooks, a high-capacity air cleaner, Eaton heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential, brushed metal sill plates, and Rancho monotube shocks.
The Realtree special edition had a starting price of $45,000, which was $2,850 higher than the usual cost of a Silverado 1500 4WD Crew Cab Short Box LTZ Z71. It was available on 2016 through 2019 model years. While this special edition is not available for 2020, the all-black look is available on the Silverado Midnight Edition. But, if you’re “hunting” for a used truck, the Chevy Silverado Realtree Special Edition might be just what you need.
