Chevy’s Silverado 1500 is one of the best trucks on either the new or used market. Its sales numbers have proved this, as the Silverado remains one of the best selling trucks in the country. Even the most basic Silverado is enough for most people’s needs.

However, the Silverado comes in five additional trims, including the fancy High Country and the off-roading master LT Trail Boss. The Silverado also has seven special edition trims, but our favorite might be the Special Ops edition. This powerful truck pays tribute to the brave men and women of the Navy SEALs.

Exclusive features on this special edition Silverado

The Special Ops edition gets a special paint job inspired by Navy SEALs. Three different shades of blue are used to create a camouflage effect that is both visually appealing and truly makes the car one-of-a-kind. Inside the grille, there’s a small light bar with three LED blue lights above a black Chevy bowtie badge.

This trim also gets a great selection of custom accessories. GearOn provides flexible tie-down rings, an in-bed storage system, and a utility rack setup for transporting any type of cargo. It also comes with a spray-in bed liner.

Off-roading features custom rocker guards, a sport bar, sport assist steps, and off-road LED lights. Off-road tires are included with the 20-inch aluminum wheels, which have special flares.

Engine power 

This truck is based on the Z71 trim, so drivers have two engines to choose from. The more powerful of the two is the V8 5.3-liter engine capable of 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. It can be paired with either an eight- or ten-speed automatic transmission, but the eight-speed is suitable for most situations.

Paired with the right towing package, this engine will allow drivers to tow up to 11,000 pounds and carry up to 2,250 pounds in the truck bed. The Double Cab comes with three bed length options: 6-foot-7, 5-foot-10, and 8-foot-2 inches. Regardless of which cargo box you choose, the second row can still comfortably fit a few adult passengers.

Interior specs

Just like the exterior, there’s some Navy-inspired styling inside the truck. The Special Ops logo is neatly embroidered on the front headrests. The armrests and instrument panel mirror the color scheme on the truck’s outside. Handles on the doors and glove box have bright orange accents. Each seat has a waterproof cover and the floor has a waterproof liner.

Good technology

The available infotainment features are plentiful on this truck. On the latest Silverado 1500, a 7-inch touchscreen, USB port, and smartphone integration are all standard. You can also get a Wi-fi hotspot, satellite or HD radio, more USB ports, a premium sound system, a sunroof, and dual-zone climate control.

The Silverado also has an extensive list of driver’s assistance features. High-beam assistance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, collision braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keep assistance are all available. 

A special message for the Navy SEALs

To produce this car, Chevrolet teamed up with the Navy SEAL Museum located in Pierce, Florida. The two collaborated to make a vehicle with a design to pay tribute to every current and fallen Navy SEAL officers.

The car was originally designed as a concept car for SEMA 2016, but was soon after released to the general public. It was built with a rescue vehicle in mind, which is why it has so many off-roading features.

This unique trim doesn’t come cheap and can cost up to $77,000 for a new model. However, if you have ties with the Navy, it may be worth the money to have this beautiful truck.
