Getting a minivan is a solid plan for driving your family and large items around. Only which minivan option is the best? The Chrysler Voyager and Dodge Grand Caravan are two options that might be difficult to choose between, so let’s see which one is better.

The Chrysler Voyager VS the Dodge Grand Caravan

If you would like the 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan, then strike now. After the 2019 model came out, it was discontinued. So, that probably doesn’t provide the most confident start for the Dodge Grand Caravan.

The 2020 Dodge Grand Caravan starts around $27k, and the Chrystler Voyager starts around $26k. These are competitive prices against the Kia Sedona, which also starts around $27k. The Honda Odyssey starts around $30k, and the Toyota Sienna starts around $31k, making them the more expensive vans.

Neither of these vans is great on gas. The Chrysler voyager gets 19 mpg in the city and up to 28 mpg on the highway, The Dodge Grand Caravan only gets 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. However, these fuel efficiencies are on par with the competition. Wait for the Toyota Sienna Hybrid for a minivan with a better fuel economy.

Chrysler Voyager and Dodge Grand Caravan Performance

The 2020 Chrysler Voyager and Dodge Grand Caravan have the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. These vans pump out 287 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The Dodge Grand Caravan can tow up to 3,500 lb while the Chrysler Pacifica can tow up to 3,600 lb.

The 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. That’s surprisingly fast for a van. The Toyota Sienna takes 6.9 seconds to reach 60 mph, so it’s not far behind the competition. The Chrysler Voyager comes in a litter slower by taking 7.6 seconds to reach 60 mph.

These vans don’t have all-wheel-drive, so consider that factor if you need to drive in ice or snow. However, the 2021 Chrysler Pacifica will have the option of AWD. The Chrysler Voyager is the economy version of the Pacifica, so those vans have a lot in common.

Chrysler Voyager and Dodge Grand Caravan features

The Chrysler Pacifica came out in 2018, while the Dodge Grand Caravan has been around for decades, meaning the Pacifica has a more modern look. It also has a better feel on the road. It’s more aerodynamic than the old boxy Dodge Grand Caravan to better handle curves and turns.

Also, the Chrysler Pacifica is noted for having a better interior with a fresh design. It has a simple dash that’s easy to use and includes a 7” touchscreen infotainment center. It can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Meanwhile, the Dodge Grand Caravan has a 6.5” infotainment center that can’t connect to either program.

The Grand Voyager also has another leg up on the Dodge Grand Caravan by being more spacious. It has more cargo space and more space for second-row passengers. Other than that, the vans are pretty similar in size. It seems like the Chrysler Voyager dominates the Dodge Grand Caravan, and it’s time for it to take on the next competitor.
