When it comes to luxury American cars, Cadillac is the brand that almost always pops up in people’s heads. And in terms of Cadillacs, the Escalade is one of the most popular luxury cars that Americans want, and the Escalade just got even more luxurious. Here’s a look at some of the futuristic features inside the 2021 Cadillac Escalade.

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade’s impressive interior

According to MotorTrend, Cadillac recently unveiled a top-of-the-line trim for the Escalade, and it’s aptly called the Premium Luxury Platinum model. This trim of the Escalade lives up to its name as it starts at just over $100,000. That being said, the regular Escalade starts at about $76,000, so it’s not a ridiculous premium to pay for what Cadillac is offering. 

One of the best aspects about this version of the Escalade, however, is what Cadillac has done to the Escalade’s already impressive interior. Like MotorTrend wrote, this premium Escalade is equipped with futuristic features like an augmented-reality navigation system, a high-resolution night vision system that can detect and mark pedestrians, as well as usability features that make the Escalade great for folks who don’t want to use the touch controls. 

This model of the Escalade also comes with a massive 36-speaker premium sound system as well as a “360-degree sound stage.” And of course, since it’s a six-figure SUV, Cadillac has covered this premium Escalade with leather and other high-quality materials. On top of that, MotorTrend said that this premium Escalade will soon be able to use “enhanced Super Cruise automated-driving technology.” 

A look at the 2021 Cadillac Escalade’s 38-inch OLED screen

However, the star of the show, in terms of this premium Cadillac Escalade’s interior features, is its 38-inch OLED screen. While this screen is actually standard on all Escalades, when combined with the other premium features offered on this trim, this massive screen gets even better. 

As MotorTrend wrote, this 38-inch OLED screen is actually three smaller screens working together to provide a massive picture for the driver and passenger. There’s a 7.2-inch screen to the left of the steering wheel, a 14.2-inch screen that acts as the instrument cluster, and a 16.9-inch screen that’s near the center of the dash. 

OLED screens are different than LED screens in small and subtle ways, but as MotorTrend wrote, the ones in the Escalade may be better than a TV. That’s because the Escalade’s 38-inch OLED screen is as thin as a sheet of paper, curved, and additionally, “twice as pixel-dense as a 4K television.” And most importantly, MotorTrend wrote that the picture on the screen was “beautifully vibrant and clear.” 

The pros and cons of this 2021 trim level

Other than the impressively luxurious interior, MotorTrend wrote that Cadillac Escalade has also made a few practical and performance-based improvements. For example, MotorTrend said that this new premium Escalade now has about 68 percent more cargo capacity behind its third-row seats, and folks in that third-row will also have about 41 percent more legroom than before. 

This premium Escalade also has a 6.2-liter V8 engine that gets about 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine allows it to go from 0 to 60 MPH in about 6.1 seconds. In terms of towing, this Escalade can also tow about 8,300 pounds, which is pretty decent.

That being said, this premium Escalade isn’t flawless. Despite its interior quality, MotorTrend said that its ride quality isn’t actually the best, especially compared to its peers. Furthermore, since it’s a massive SUV with a powerful V8 engine, it also doesn’t have a great fuel economy. MotorTrend said that this Escalade should get about 16 MPG combined when all’s said and done.
