The EarthCruiser Terranova Is a ‘Sprinter Van Killer’
The team at EarthCruiser is talented and passionate about overland adventures. I had the privilege of speaking with three of the individuals behind the production of the epic EarthCruiser line. With the release of the all-new EarthCruiser Terranova Expedition camper, there are of course some questions. However, over the course of the conversation, I learned a lot. For instance, Austin Steimer the Engineering department manager, and Chad Knight the General Manager convinced me that the EC Terranova 4×4 overland camper RV is indeed a capable ‘Sprinter van killer.’
“The EC Terranova Expedition Camper meets customer demand for a cab-over with a choice of domestic chassis. We know many customers feel more comfortable behind the wheel of a consumer-class truck versus commercial and have strong brand preferences. We want to be able to honor that.”
Chad Knight | GM of EarthCruiser.
A team that loves overlanding
The EarthCruiser line of 4×4 overland camper RV type vehicles stands out among the rest. The design of each one is so excellently engineered due to the fact that the team’s passion for overlanding takes them all over the world. Each model, including the all-new EarthCruiser Terranvoa Expedition camper, drives overland to test EC design.
In fact, their experiences over the years and all over the globe are the inspiration for much of the well thought out design of each vehicle. The entire system––including the specially engineered suspension and 4×4 drivetrain––is designed thoughtfully with the finest details of an actual overland trip in mind.
For instance, the cab-over chassis design is a unimold and completely unshakable, according to the EC engineer Austin Steimer. There are marine grade materials throughout the design. The EC Terranova stands up to the best and the worst. It’s an all-season, all-terrain, pickup truck camper that you can live in off the grid. What’s not to like?
Simple and effective
When I asked Chad and Austin about the new EC Terranova Expedition camper, one feature really struck me. This is definitely in opposition to the Sprinter van. The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans can actually be pretty difficult to get serviced should the occasion arise. The Terranova truck camper, on the other hand, is purpose-built and engineered for simplicity. In theory, many owners will be able to perform maintenance and repairs on their own if they need to mid-journey.
Domestic truck chassis options
This 4×4 overland camper RV offers plenty of space for a bit of customization. From the chassis the cab-over is built on to the tires it uses to move across the land, it’s all yours. In fact, one of the coolest customizable features is the truck chassis itself. Owners can choose from a number of domestic truck chassis. The choice between 2020 or newer Ram 3500, Ford F-350, and Chevy Silverado 3500 truck chassis, for instance, demonstrates the difference from others like the EarthRoamer.
The EarthCruiser Terranova Expedition camper
This is a completely new product from EarthCruiser, and we are excited to see it hit production. It’s definitely an EarthCruiser. The Terranova 4×4 overland camper RV displays a deep love for overlanding. However, it’s a fresh product that gives an exciting glimpse into the future of EarthCruiser and what’s to come. We’ll release more details about the new Terranova as the week goes on.
