The Electric Ford F-150 Isn’t Short on Power
The new Ford electric truck could be here sooner than you think. Ford has already confirmed the Electric F-150, and now there is an all-new Ford F-150 EV prototype hitting the streets to test its capability and performance. Check out what this new electric truck can do.
What the Electric Ford F-150 Can Do
Built Ford tough is taking on a new meaning after Ford allowed a few dedicated F-150 fans to get behind the wheel of the Electric F-150 prototype to tow 10 double-decker train cars for 1,000 ft. The Ford electric truck can tow up to 1 million pounds, which is more than any other truck.
As these excited Ford fans got to drive the prototype, they noted that they were able to haul an insane amount of weight with a quiet engine while going about five mph.

Then Ford upped the ante by loading the train cars with vehicles, boosting the total weight to 1.25 million pounds. Now that we know that the Electric Ford F-150 is tough, but what else do we know aside from an anticipated release date in 2022?
What we know about the Ford F-150 EV
The Electric Ford truck is expected to enter the market in about 24 months. Currently, if things go according to schedule, we could see the Ford F-150 EV in June 2022. However, as we creep closer to the Electric Ford F-150 reveal in 2021, we will have plenty of spy shots and rumors to go on.
According to Inside EVs, the Electric F-150 will have similar styling to the Mustang Mach-E that already made its debut. It also won’t look very different from the current 2021 Ford F-150 trucks we currently see.
Instead of having some Cybertruck or modern, futuristic design, the first Ford F-150 EV will look like a traditional truck. However, it may have a higher ride height to make room for the batteries in the undercarriage. Also, the Ford F-150 EV will need a place along the body to plug it in.
Ford F-150 EV Features
Not much has been mentioned about the range that the Electric Ford F-150 will have. Hopefully, it will follow in the Mustang Mach-E’s footsteps with a ranger of 300 miles or more on a single charge. Otherwise, it could be a little disappointing.
To compete with the Tesla Cybertruck, the Electric Ford F-150 will need to start at a similar price point or offer more tech and power. The cheapest Tesla Cyber truck trim begins around $39k. Two more trim models begin around $49k and $60k too.
The single rear-wheel-drive version of the Tesla Cybertruck has 250 miles of range. Different configurations can extend the range to 300 miles and 500 miles as well. The Tesla Cyber truck can also tow up to 14k pounds and carry a payload of up to 3,500 lb.
As far as tech goes, optional solar panels on the Cybertruck should provide a charge of up to 15 miles a day. As the Cybertruck and Rivian R1T come out, we will probably receive more clues about the Ford F-150 EV in terms of price and capability. But unfortunately, we will have to wait to learn more.
