The Fastest SUVs in 2019
Anybody new to car shopping may find a few surprises when looking for the perfect SUV. They will quickly find that not only are SUVs actually fuel-efficient and reliable but SUVs are also getting really quite fast.
Surprisingly, there are a good number of powerful SUVs available. A spacious interior for camping or sporting equipment and enough power for going off-road are the traditional advantages afforded by the sport utility vehicle. The newest generation promises more luxury and especially more speed. So without further ado, here are the fastest SUVs in 2019.
Jaguar I-Pace
Jaguar has long been known for putting out a trove of coupes and sedans over the years. Now it has produced not only one of the coolest SUVs ever made in the I-Pace but a very impressive electric car, as well.
Carrying 340 hp dual electric motors and a 90 kWh battery, the I-Pace manages to clock zero to 60 miles per hour in 4.5 seconds.
Porsche Cayenne Turbo
A Porsche SUV? It may have sounded funny just a short time ago, but it is a real thing. It is not a Porsche just in name only. If you need any proof, just take a glance at the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 with an explosive 542 horsepower.
Porsche claims the Cayenne can go from 0 to 60 in 3.7 seconds. This would be impressive even for a muscle car. The speed of the Cayenne is that impressive.
Lamborghini Urus
SUVs have stood the test of time on the roads of America, and it shows with even the legendary Lamborghini diving into the SUV market.
It is quite a notable effort, with its 4-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 641 hp, possibly making it the only SUV you could drive straight from the supermarket to the dragstrip.
BMW X5M/X6M
Not skimping at all in the SUV department, BMW makes an impressive showing with the X5M and X6M.
Powered by the same twin-turbo 4.4 liter V8s of its stablemates, the X5M and X6M can put down a pavement-pounding 567 hp, good for 0 to 60 times of 3.8 seconds and 3.7 seconds out of the X5 and the X6, respectively.
Bentley Bentayga W12
Bentley made its entry in the SUV field in 2015 with the Bentayga, and the all-new W12 continues its SUV line. Even the name of the old school car company lends this model that inexplicable air of refinement and style.
The 6 liter V8 is easily capable of 600 hp, helping it reach 0 to 60 mph in four seconds. Bentley even claims the Bentayga is the fastest SUV on the market today, with a stated top speed of 190 mph. But it is only available in an eight-speed automatic, so put that racing helmet purchase on hold for the time being.
Maserati Levante Trofeo
The head developers at Ferrari have been keeping a close eye on the SUV market for years. You will not see a Ferrari SUV on the road as of yet, but the next best thing is the Maserati Levante Trofeo.
This ferocious and cool-looking family car packs a Ferrari-assembled twin-turbocharged 3.8 liter V8. It cranks out 590 hp at an incredible 6250 rpm.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio
Alfa Romeo creeps onto the list on the strength of its own Ferrari-produced power plant. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio packs a twin-turbocharged 2.9 liter V6 making 505 horsepower that can send it down the road from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds.
Paired with the already mentioned Maserati Levante Trofeo, the performance of these two SUVs makes the prospect of an up and coming Ferrari SUV one of the most exciting and eagerly anticipated cars in a long time.
