The Ford Bronco Delivers What the Jeep Wrangler Can’t

Saddle up, if you can. We aren’t sure if the 2021 Ford Bronco can be tamed. For the past few decades, if you wanted to adventure, it would be best to lead your Jeep Wrangler out of the stables. But those days are history. The new Ford Bronco is delivering what the Jeep Wrangler can’t.

The Ford Bronco VS the Jeep Wrangler

Now, what we have to go on is limited. The Ford Bronco will officially be revealed on July 13th at 8 PM EDT. But we do know that the new Ford Bronco is designed to compete against the new Jeep Wrangler.

There are also several rumors and official teasers being released by Ford each day, giving us more details to look forward to. A few of those hints provide how the Ford Bronco will gain a leg up on the Jeep Wrangler.

The Ford Bronco will be faster

If you get a Jeep Wrangler, then you aren’t getting it for speed. It’s iconic boxy design isn’t the best for aerodynamics. They have been noted for having a tough time accelerating quickly to turn out into traffic and have trouble passing people.

Plus, if you take a curve too quickly, you risk flipping. In fact, the Jeep Wrangler is so prone to flipping that it recently failed a safety test. It flipped onto its side! This was after the Jeep engineers modified the 2019 Jeep Wrangler to be safer, so it looks like it’s time to go back to the drawing board.

The fastest engine option for the Jeep Wrangler is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine. It pumps out 260 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. When tested, the manual two-door Jeep Wrangler could accelerate from 0 to 60 in 6.1 seconds, which is pretty fast. However, the automatic two-door Jeep Wrangler goes from 0 to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds, and the four-door models start to slow down even more.

The Ford Bronco is said to have Mustang power, which is intriguing because the Ford Mustang Mach-E can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3 seconds. With the hybrid Ford F-150 and electric Mustang, there could be enough parts available for a hybrid Ford Bronco.

Rumors suggest that the 2021 Ford Bronco could have a 7-speed manual transmission and the 2.7-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine as well. It provides 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque in the Ford Edge and 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque in the F-150.

The Ford Bronco is safer

The Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco both have the appeal of going topless. Only in the Jeep Wrangler, there are no side or curtain airbags to protect passengers while the doors are off. But the Ford Bronco has a pretty deadly past, especially when it comes to the Ford Bronco 2, which was known for flipping.

To correct these safety issues, Ford submitted a patent for new safety features, including tubular side airbags. If an accident occurs while the doors are off, inflatable airbags should deploy to protect the driver and passengers.
