The Ford Ranger Tremor Shakes up the Competition
Did you see the Ford Ranger Tremor yet? If not, take a minute to check out this show stopper. The 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor could be the midsize camping truck that you’ve been waiting for. We hope this truck transforms from a concept to reality.
A look at the 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor
The Ford Mustang Mach-E drift car and two-door Ford Bronco built for desert racing to move over. We’re all about the 2021 Ford Ranger SEMA show truck right now. While the Bronco and Mustang were already cool vehicles, the Ranger needed a little help.
Now, it looks like the Ranger is going from lame to fame with crucial off-roading and camping updates to enhance its powers and capabilities. Despite the ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the SEMA show took place with online reveals. And we’re thankful that people at least got to lay their eyes on amazing concept vehicles to gain an idea of what’s to come.
What we know about the Ranger Tremor
According to MotorTrend, the 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor started as an XLT SuperCrew model. Then the Ford vehicle personalization team transformed it into a wilderness-ready truck with the addition of performance parts and a unique look.
The most noticeable features include body stripes and a black snorkel. The snorkel reminds us of the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and makes us wonder if the Tremor can keep up with it. But only time will tell at the moment.
The Ranger Tremor also gained 17-inch wheels wrapped in General Grabber All-Terrain tires, a frame-mounted front bash plate, FrontLoader bike mount, SlimShady Awning, and OverHaul HD bed rack with accessory sidebars thanks to Yakima. You’ll also notice hood hinge auxiliary lights, bumper-mounted fog-lights, off-road recovery broads, and tow hooks.
2021 Ford Tremor power
The 2021 Ford Ranger Tremor doesn’t gain much power, but has the 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo-four engine with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
But it did gain serious off-roading equipment, including Fox 2.0 monotube shocks with remote reservoirs, performance-tuned front coil-over springs, and rear leaf springs. For protection, there is a frame-mounted front bash plate, and skid plates.
Other upgrades include the cat-back exhaust by Borla and rear differential cover. Also, the Safari Snorkel is on the front. However, Ford didn’t release how much water the Ranger Tremor can tread. There is a portable air compressor in the back, too.
We hope that the Ford Ranger Tremor concept becomes a real truck. However, until then, we can settle for the Ford Ranger Tremor off-roading kit. It comes with an increased ground clearance, the Fox performance parts mentioned above, and the same larger tires.
It’s almost the same as the concept truck, only it doesn’t have the snorkel. The off-roading kit also includes the Terrain Management System and Trail Control.
Plus, the upgrades don’t come at a loss of power. The Ford Ranger Tremor can still tow 7,500 lb and carry a payload of up to 1,430 lb. You can add the Tremor package for about $4,290.
