The 2020 GMC Sierra Feels Outdated

Is the GMC Sierra 1500 a good truck?
The GMC Sierra is a fine truck, but it simply has an interior that can’t live up to the competition. Also, the outdated interior could cause the GMC Sierra to feel overpriced as it doesn’t live up to its price tag.
However, the GMC Sierra 1500 doesn’t have an expensive price tag. It starts around $29k. This is only $1k more than the starting price of the 2020 Ford F-150, while the 2020 Ram 1500 starts around $32k.

But if you pay for the GMC Sierra AT4 off-roading trim or the Sierra Denali trim, which starts at over $60k, the interior doesn’t have that many upgrades. Truck drivers don’t want to pay a luxury price tag for an old interior.
Why is the GMC Sierra outdated?
First of all, it’s important to mention that the GMC Sierra is excellent for doing truck stuff, like towing and off-roading. Also, the large seats are incredibly spacious and comfortable. There are large armrests for passengers in the front and enough space for everyone to stretch out because the interior is enormous.
The infotainment center is also clearly labeled and easy to use, which can be a plus compared to trucks like the Honda Ridgeline that have received complaints for being complicated to use. However, that’s about it for the positive things to mention.
The dashboard just seems plain and boring. It’s one giant, simple piece of plastic without distinguishing pops of color. The silver that outlines the vents is too dull to draw the eye. But there are a few pieces of wood in the Denali to make things seem a little flashier.
Even though the GMC Sierra has an 8” infotainment center, it looks dwarfed due to how the air vents frame it. With a large cabin in a big truck, size matters. The large, chunky dials don’t help the style either.
You can see brown stitching throughout the truck, but that’s about it for visually pleasing elements. The back seat feels old and plain as well, despite having a few USB ports for passengers to use.
GMC Sierra 1500 Tech
The GMC Sierra does pretty well with modern tech features. The infotainment center can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It has a heads up display full of useful information, and the digital cluster display is easy to click through.
Thank goodness the rearview camera mirror helps you maneuver this massive truck around easily, and wireless charging is available on higher trim options. There are also up to 15 camera views available to help you with back to your trailer and for off-roading.
But the GMC Sierra 1500 is lacking safety features. The AT4 doesn’t have emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, forward collision alert, or pedestrian braking available. It’s a great truck, but it feels old and less safe compared to the competition.
