The Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor Sounds Like a Wild Ride
Is there a need for a 750-hp Ford Bronco? Probably not, but the Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor is undoubtedly one of the coolest Bronco variations yet.
Hennessey Performance Engineering announced the creation of this off-road powerhouse via press release. However, you’ll have to be lucky and flush with cash to get one.
“I wanted to build the ultimate Ford Bronco for myself and for our customers,” said John Hennessey, the company’s CEO. “The 2021 Bronco may be one of the most highly desired vehicles since the introduction of the Ford GT. We look forward to taking the new Bronco to the next level and beyond.”
The 2021 Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor costs $225,000, plus destination charges. Additionally, Hennessey will only assemble 24 units, so this product is extremely limited. Those who have the dough to buy one of these performance SUVs can order it through an authorized Hennessey Ford dealer or via the company itself.
So, what’s different about this unique Ford Bronco? Let’s check out what’s under the hood.
What is Hennessey Performance Engineering?
Beloved vehicles like the Ford F-150 Raptor, Dodge Challenger, and Chevy Corvette deliver high-octane performance. However, even the top-tier trims of these vehicles aren’t enough to satisfy certain gearheads.
That’s where Hennessey Performance Engineering comes in. Founded in 1991, Hennessey is a tuning house based out of Sealy, Texas. It specializes in aftermarket modifications that drastically increase the performance of street-legal vehicles. These upgrades include performance-tuned engines, pickup truck lift kits, sport-tuned suspensions, and more.
The Dodge Challenger Demon HPE1000 upgrade is a prime example of Hennessey’s capability. It increased the muscle car’s factory 808 hp to 1,035 hp and gave it other performance enhancements.
The Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor is a performance beast
The 2021 Ford Bronco is making its long-awaited debut early next year. Even before its release, its capability has already been put to the test against rivals like the Jeep Wrangler.
However, many gearheads were left wondering what the true potential of this legendary nameplate could be. The 2021 Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor seeks to answer that question.
Hennessey’s creation ditches the 2021 Ford Bronco’s original 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 and replaces it with a supercharged 5.0-liter V8. This powerplant is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and it kicks out 750 hp and rockets from 0-60 MPH in just 4.5 seconds.
This aftermarket modification is available on two- and four-door Bronco models. The Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor also includes other upgrades in addition to its robust engine.
The most visible adjustments are the Hennessey grille and the custom hood with scoops that help channel air to the engine compartment. The Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor also includes larger aluminum wheels, upgraded off-road tires, VelociRaptor graphics, and unique front and rear bumpers with LED lighting.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find custom leather upholstery with Hennessey-embroidered headrests. It also comes with a 1/24 serial-numbered plaque, celebrating its exclusivity.
Other additions aren’t as noticeable as the previous modifications, but they play a vital role in the SUV’s driving dynamics. The Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor is outfitted with an upgraded off-road suspension system to help it take on the harshes terrain. It also includes fuel system and fuel injector upgrades, an air-to-water intercooler, a stainless steel cat-back exhaust, and a high-flow air induction system.
Fans are left green with envy
In all likelihood, you won’t be getting behind the wheel of a 2021 Hennessey Ford Bronco VelociRaptor. However, we can hope to see videos of one in action, preferably on rugged terrain, in the future. Until then, we’ll have to settle for the much more affordable production Bronco.
