The Honda Accord is a Better Hybrid Than the Toyota Camry
The idea of driving a hybrid vehicle can be intimidating to owners who have always driven traditional combustion engines. The happy intermediate seems to be a particularly popular market of offering a hybrid drivetrain on already popular and well-loved vehicles. As a stepping stone into the world of hybrids and all-electric cars, there are more hybrids on the road today than ever before and more options for buyers to choose from. If you want something affordable, the obvious choices are the same vehicles many people would choose with a standard gasoline drivetrain: affordable sedans like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry.
A competition between two good options
Of course, there are plenty of reasons to love either option, that is why they are both so popular. But when it comes down to purchasing, one decision has to be made, and there is a good argument as to why you should pick the Honda Accord hybrid over the Toyota Camry hybrid. Some naysayers may claim that the Accord’s interior is overcomplicated in a way that contrasts with the otherwise simple and modern design. Still, some test drivers might think it looks pretty cool, and at the very least, high tech.
The Honda Accord fits junk in its trunk
Driving a smaller vehicle like a sedan doesn’t lend itself to as much space as some SUVs, but the Honda Accord won’t leave you squishing bread into the trunk, either. One area where the Accord has a leg-up over the Toyota Camry is the cargo capacity, where the Accord can fit a fair amount more junk in its trunk. This might not be important to every driver, but if you juggle between soccer bags, book bags, groceries, and Girl Scout cookies to be delivered every season, you want every spare inch of space you can get, and when it comes down to it, the Accord has that to offer.
Standard safety
If you’ve never driven a car with the latest safety features many new cars offer, you might be as skeptical as I was when it came to how valuable they actually are. Drivers who are more accustomed to these features and the enhancement they make to the safety and the driving experience know just how valuable they are. Luckily for owners, the 2021 Honda Accord comes with a whole slew of standard safety features you won’t have to pay extra for. This includes features such as forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking, just to name a few.
Both sedans have so much in common that it requires a bit of nit-picking to pick between the two. Being of similar size, weight, price range, and competing toe-to-toe in just about every aspect such as performance and fuel consumption, it’s the finer details of each that set these two hybrid options apart. You probably wouldn’t be disappointed in your purchase one way or the other, but chances are you’ll only buy one, and a choice has to be made.
