The Hyundai Sonata is one of the best options on the market right now for sedan lovers. The Sonata tends to be a high-tech car, and as a result, Hyundai offers many standard features on the Sonata. Here’s a look at everything that’s standard on the Sonata.

The Hyundai Sonata’s standard interior features

The Sonata is not a luxury sedan, but that doesn’t mean that its interior is cheap and plain. That said, the Sonata’s seats are definitely the most basic aspect of the car.

U.S. News says that the Sonata has five cloth seats, and that the front seats are both manually adjustable. While the Sonata’s seats are very simple, they’re also very functional and U.S. News mentions that they’re quite roomy seats as well. 

When it comes to its infotainment system, the Sonata has plenty to offer. U.S. News reports that the Sonata comes standard with an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system. This touch screen is not only compatible with Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay, but it’s also Bluetooth compatible.

To round it off, it also has a single USB port. U.S. News said that the Sonata’s touch screen was easy to use and that its graphics, in particular, looked very sharp. 

The standout interior feature of the Sonata though is its cargo space. In fact, U.S. News says that the Sonata has one of the highest cargo volumes in its segment. The Sonata has 16 cu. ft. of cargo space, and while that doesn’t seem impressive when compared with an SUV, keep in mind the Sonata is a sedan after all.

The Hyundai Sonata’s standard performance features

While the interior of the Sonata may be well-equipped and comfortable, U.S. News wasn’t as impressed by its standard performance features. The Sonata comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, according to U.S. News, and it generates 191-hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. U.S. News and other car reviewers said that while the Sonata’s standard engine felt smooth to drive, it wasn’t very impressive at all.

This is a similar story for the Sonata’s handling. U.S. News says that the Sonata was easy to control and that its standard suspension system allowed it to be a very comfortable car to drive and ride in. 

In terms of the Sonata’s fuel economy, it’s also pretty good. Its standard 2.5-liter engine gets 28 MPG in the city and 38 MPG on highways, for a combined 32 MPG. The standard Sonata’s fuel economy is a lot less than what the more expensive hybrid or electric trims of the Sonata have, but it’s pretty decent for its segment nonetheless.

Standard safety features

Hyundai, like many other Asian automakers, are well-known for taking safety seriously. As a result, U.S. News says that the Sonata is a very safe car to drive, in part due to how many standard smart safety features that it has. 

These standard smart safety features include: automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, a pedestrian detection system, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane tracing assist, adaptive cruise control, a driver attention monitoring system, and automatic high-beam headlights. 

While many of those smart safety features aren’t usually standard on other cars, the Sonata also has safety features that are usually standard on most modern cars. For example, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, and traction control are all standard safety features on the Sonata as well.

Due to how many standard smart safety features are on the Sonata, as well as how well it performed in its crash tests, U.S. News gave the Sonata a perfect 10 out of 10 for its safety.
