A new and better Hyundai Tucson is on the way. We got to see its new looks in September and finally got more information about the 2022 lineup. The sportier Hyundai Tucson N Line will change the game with a sportier performance and luxury refinement.
Despite older models having an outdated look and meh features, the Hyundai Tucson has been the brand’s best-seller worldwide. However, it struggled in the U.S. market against rivals like the Toyota RAV4 and Chevy Equinox. Now with its confident new look, beefier powertrains, upscale cabin, and modern tech, it could take the crown as the best small SUV.
What’s new for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson?
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson incorporates the feel of a sports car into a capable SUV that’s now large enough for small families. It gained 6.1-inches of length and .6-inches to its height and width. There are now 38.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seat.
You’ll get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque with the standard option. The 1.6-liter turbo provides 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Also, the plug-in hybrid Tucson will have 277 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The Hyundai Tucson N Line could have over 275 hp.
According to MotorAuthority, The hybrid will be 30% more efficient with over 500 miles of range. Hyundai currently quotes the Hybrid Tucson with 28 miles of electric driving range. Also, it will fully charge in about two hours.
All-wheel drive will be available for each model and comes standard on the hybrid versions. Driving modes will include Eco, Comfort, Smart, Sport, Mud, Sand, and Snow with AWD. So you’ll be able to drive the way you want in various conditions.
2022 Hyundai Tucson features
Along with an impressive exterior, the Tucson gains a sleek and confident interior. You can light it up with 64 different ambient lighting colors to show it off. An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability.
Plus, a hoodless digital instrument cluster display sits in the dash. You can use your smartphone as a key to unlock the doors and more. Plus, you can control smart home devices from the SUV.
Available features include wireless charging, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel. Plus, standard safety features include forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, active lane control, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor.
If you want more, you can add blind-spot cameras, a surround-view camera system, reverse-collision warnings, rear-cross traffic alert, blind-spot collision avoidance, automatic parking, adaptive cruise control, an exit warning system, and rear-seat occupant alert.
But unfortunately, pricing hasn’t been released for the 2022 Hyundai Tucson yet. The 2020 Hyundai Tucson begins around $23,500, but we expect a slight increase with all its new extras. With a starting price of around $25k, it would compete well against the RAV4 and other rivals.
