The Jeep Compass is Slightly Better Than the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

The Jeep Compass VS the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
Both the 2020 Jeep Compass and 2020 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport start around $22k, making them cheap options that are competitively priced. Although, the 2021 Kia Seltos will be about $21k when it arrives, so it could be worth waiting for.
The Jeep Compass gets up to 23 mpg in the city and up to 32 mpg on the highway. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Their fuel economies are almost equal, making it challenging to pick the better option for fuel savings.
Jeep Compass and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Power
Under the hood of the Jeep Compass, you will find a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 180 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. You can tow up to 1,000 lb with the Jeep Compass, but don’t push it by weighing down the powertrain too much.
Also, the Jeep Compass can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 10.1 seconds, so it’s not exactly fast. You may experience difficulties passing people on the highway or while pulling into traffic quickly.

The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. You can also upgrade to the 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine for 168 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque.
Towing isn’t an option for this vehicle. With the 2,4-liter engine that you have to pay to upgrade to, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 7.9 seconds. That’s pretty good, but still slightly sluggish.
Jeep Compass and Mitsubishi Outlander Sport features
One of the edges that the Jeep Compass has over the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the fact that it’s available with four-wheel drive. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is only available in front-wheel drive or AWD. Meaning the Jeep Compass is the better option for driving in snow or for off-roading.
The Jeep Compass has 27.7 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and up to 59.8 cubic feet total. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is smaller, with only 27.3 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and a total of 49.5 cubic space.
Also, the Jeep Compass comes with the Uconnect system that can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, you can pay to upgrade for the ability to connect to these services.
Neither of these options come with very many standard safety features. However, the Jeep Compass does come with electronic stability control with anti-roll.
You’ll have to upgrade to a higher trim option in both of these vehicles for things like lane departure warning and forward collision prevention. It seems like the Jeep Compass comes with a little more stuff, so we will declare it as the winner.
