The Jeep Renegade Just Got More Power
The 2021 Jeep Renegade is coming, and more power is coming with it. This compact little SUV is about to get a lot faster! Check out what updates to expect with the upcoming Jeep Renegade and when you can get one.
2021 Jeep Renegade updates
The 2021 Jeep Renegade is getting a hybrid powertrain. It will have a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with an electric motor to provide 240 horsepower. This will give it a significant speed boost over the current gas engines.
We will probably see the Jeep Renegade 4xe in Europe first. The plug-in hybrid model will have an estimated 31-miles of electric propulsion only before gas kicks into power the front wheels. It should have a much better fuel economy. However, the electric range hasn’t been tested or released yet.
Is the 2021 Jeep Renegade worth waiting for?
The 2021 Jeep Renegade should arrive at dealerships around the fall of 2020 before the Ford Bronco Sport arrives in the spring of 2021. It’s expected to have a slightly redesigned face, but not a total redesign. The new-look has been tightly covered under wraps so far.
In 2021, the Jeep Renegade is expected to carry the same engine options. It currently offers a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque.

You can also upgrade to the 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine for 177 horsepower and 210 lb-ft of torque. However, this is speculation, and we might see some more power increases to compete against the Ford Bronco.
There could be slight adjustments to the Jeep Renegade’s handling as well, even though it isn’t needed. This off-road-ready compact SUV surprises drivers with incredibly sporty handling and nimble turning radius that makes it fun and easy to maneuver.
The powertrain will be paired with the same nine-speed automatic transmission that provides a peppy acceleration and smooth gear shifts. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and four-wheel drive is available.
2021 Jeep Renegade features
The Jeep Renegade interior shouldn’t change much. People love the funky pops of colors and hidden Jeep Easter eggs to find. The taller roof provides plenty of space for drivers and passengers as well.
In terms of tech, the Jeep Renegade has it all with a 5″ infotainment center that can connect to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Alexis, and your Google home assistant. You can also upgrade to the 8″ infotainment center.
When it comes to safety, the Jeep Renegade should have parallel parking assistance, lane-keeping assistance, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and more.
The Jeep Renegade is one of the safer Jeep models you can buy as it scores higher than the Wrangler in standard crash tests. The Jeep Renegade Trailhawk is the beefiest trim option for off-roading and includes tow hooks, skid plates, all-terrain tires, a taller ride height, and more.
Because the 2021 Jeep Renegade is a carryover, the price shouldn’t change much. It’s predicted to cost between $23k to $30k, but the hybrid option may up the price a little. If you aren’t particularly excited for the hybrid option, then the 2020 Jeep Renegade is an excellent off-roading option to buy.
