The Jeep Wagoneer Is More Than Just a Tease
UPDATE: THIS ARTICLE WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN ON TUESDAY, 8/18, AND WE WERE RIGHT.
The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer is coming, and Jeep is starting to put out some pretty exciting teasers for their revival of a luxurious family SUV. From what we’ve gathered so far, it might actually be the Grand Jeep Wagoneer instead.
AND AGAIN, WE WERE RIGHT. The GRAND JEEP WAGONEER MAKES IT DEBUT SEPTEMBER 3RD.
The 2022 Grand Jeep Wagoneer
Based on spy shots and teasers, we know that a three-row Jeep SUV is coming. Photos have captured an elongated Jeep. The images could be for the new three-row Jeep Cherokee, or it could be for the Jeep Wagoneer.
In Jeep’s latest teaser, they shower the letters, ‘ONEER” with an American flag at the end. That could mean a different word, like pioneer, but we doubt it. Why not revive the classic name? Also, Jeep posted the definition of grand over a photo of the Grand Canyon.
It read, “Grand: Magnificent and striking in appearance, size, or style.” But Jeep added the part about being magnificent and striking in style. Initially, this information was assumed to refer to the Grand Cherokee, which is up for a refresh, until the “ONEER” photo surfaced.
Another photo of the interior was posted, showing a new design for the starter button. You might be able to see that popular 12” Uconnect screen as well.
But what stands out is the thin wood paneling. The wood paneling could be a throwback to the retro Wagoneer with wood on its sides. The wood paneling is also a symbol of a luxurious interior that could drive up the price.
NOW POSTED A NEW PHOTO FOR THE GRAND JEEP WAGONEER REVEAL.
You can clearly see “WAG” above the grille, and the image is linked to the FIAT Chrysler website with a caption saying coming September 3rd.
What we know about the Grand Jeep Wagoneer
Information is limited at the time, but we can speculate that the Grand Jeep Wagoneer will ride on the same platform as the Ram 1500. It will probably have a similar engine option as well, including the 3.6-liver eTorque V8.
However, with everything getting faster, maybe the Hellcat or V8 HEMI will be available as well. We already know that the Dodge Durango Hellcat is coming, so why not give the new three-row Jeep some muscle? Giving the Wagoneer a diesel engine would provide an edge too.
To compete with rivals, the Grand Jeep Wagoneer will need to offer variety. Meaning the choice between two seats in the second row or three seats should be available. Also, four-wheel-drive will hopefully come standard.
We can only look to the tech from 2021 Ram and Jeep vehicles for clues as to what the Grand Wagoneer will have. It will be able to connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, at least. Also, it will need to be safer to be marketed as a family SUV.
When will we know more about the 2022 Grand Jeep Wagoneer?
We hope to learn more about the 2022 Grand Jeep Wagoneer and newly refreshed Grand Jeep Cherokee soon. However, Jeep is a little busy working on providing a hybrid option for each model by 2022.
If everything stays on schedule, maybe we will learn more by the end of the year. We could see a release by next summer as Jeep rushes to compete with the Chevy Tahoe, Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia, and more.
