The Jeep Wrangler 4xe Dominates the Ford Bronco
The Ford Bronco already hit a home run. Now Jeep is stepping up to the plate with the Wrangler 4xe. But is the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Hybrid enough to take the new Ford Bronco down? Let’s compare pricing, power, and specs to determine which option is the better SUV.
The Ford Bronco vs. the Jeep Wrangler 4xe
The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is one-upping the Ford Bronco by offering innovative technology that Ford hasn’t provided for the Bronco yet. Plus, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be available early in 2021, months before you can get your hands on a 2021 Ford Bronco.
Also, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a quiet off-roader. It will provide a peaceful journey into the forest, allowing you to connect with nature. But no comments have been made about if wind and road noise will be quieter or not.
The 2021 ford Bronco is expected to get up to 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Meanwhile, the Jeep Wrangler Hybrid is expected to get 50 mpg with 25 miles of electric range and a 400-mile range. So, the 4xe has a better fuel economy.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Ford Bronco power
The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is powered by a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged inline-four engine and two electric motors that combine to provide 375-hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. This enables the Wrangler 4xe to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6 seconds flat. It can also tow up to 3,500 lb.
The most powerful Ford Bronco engine that’s currently available is the 2.7-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that pumps out 310-hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. The Ford Bronco can tow up to 3,500 lb as well.
For off-roading, the Jeep Wrangler 4xe can forge water up to 30-inches deep, has electronically disconnecting sway bars in the front and rear, has a 4.0:1 low-range ratio, a 77.2:1 crawl ratio, a Selec-Trac transfer case allowing for full-time four-wheel drive, and more.
With the Ford Bronco, the 7-speed manual transmission offers a rock-crawling gear with a 94.8:1 crawl ratio. However, the manual transmission isn’t available with the beefiest off-roading trim. It has a disconnecting sway bar in the front and forges water that’s up to 33.5” deep.
Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler 4xe features
Both of these SUVs have the power to strip. You can remove the doors and take the tops off. Like the Jeep Wrangler 4xe, the Ford Bronco allows you to choose between a hardtop or soft top.
Technology for the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe hasn’t fully been revealed, but it offers an 8.1-inch infotainment screen, a trail camera, and can connect to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Alexis. The Wifi hotspot also provides connectivity for up to 50 feet.
The 2021 Ford Bronco has an 8.1-inch display that can be upgraded to 12-inches with a 360-view spotter camera system. It’s assumed that it can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also has a trail mapping navigation system.
While the price for the Jeep Wrangler 4xe hasn’t been released yet, it seems like the better deal. It comes with unmatched power and a beefier suspension setup for conquering the wild. Only go for the Ford Bronco if you want to forge water up to two inches deeper.
