The Jeep Wrangler Half Doors May Break Your Wallet
The Jeep Wrangler half doors have finally returned. However, having half doors may fully empty your wallet. The half doors that are available on the 2021 Jeep Wrangler JL are one of the latest accessories that may break the bank.
The Jeep Wrangler half doors are incredibly expensive
If you want to upgrade to the 2021 Jeep Wrangler half doors, prepare your wallet for sky-high prices. According to Motor Trend, the JL Wrangler Dual-Door Group costs $2,350 to add base uppers to the two-door 2021 Jeep Wrangler and $2,550 for the premium uppers.
It costs $3,3995 to add the base uppers to the four-door Wrangler and $4,395 to add the premium uppers. Also, some four-door half-door and top combinations can cost upwards of $8,000.
For example, adding the Sky One-Touch sliding power cloth top tacks on another $3,995. Oh, and if you want the half doors on your Jeep Gladiator, sorry. The Dual-Door Group isn’t available on the Jeep truck yet.
What comes with the Wrangler Dual-Door Group?
So the Jeep Wrangler half doors are pretty expensive, but are they worth it? There are two options.
- The base uppers are made of plastic-like vinyl that matches the base tops.
- The premium uppers are made of fabric-like twill that matches the premium soft tops.
The only difference included the materials that the removable upper sections have. They both pull straight off. Jeep Wrangler half doors benefit people by providing more freedom by being connected to fresh air and nature. They are also safer than completely removing the doors.
On lower trims that don’t have power-heated door mirrors or speed-sensitive power locks, the premium uppers are a way to add those features. Also, the Dual-Door Group adds more doors. In addition to the half-doors, you will also get a set of full doors with fully framed wind-up windows. You can switch between the doors as needed.
But the half doors don’t provide the convenience of roll-up windows. To open the windows, you have to remove them. This could cause a little bit of trouble in drive-throughs, but Jeepers aren’t afraid of unique challenges.
