The Kia EV9 and Volkswagen ID.4 are two of the newest electric SUVs on the block. The Kia EV9 will be released in the next few months. By all accounts, it’s going to be a worthy challenger to the year-old Volkswagen ID.4. Here’s what we know about the Kia EV9 ahead of its release date, and how it will compare to the Volkswagen ID.4.

How much will the Volkswagen ID.4 and Kia EV9 cost?

There’s no official Kia EV9 price yet. Top Electric SUV speculates that it will start somewhere around $50,000. If that proves to be true, it will be right in line with the Hyundai Ioniq 7. The Ioniq 7’s price is speculated to be somewhere between $50,000 and $55,000.

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 has a starting price of $39,995. Like Kia, Volkswagen is being hush about the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 price, but estimates have it starting somewhere around $41,190. Edmunds doesn’t expect many changes to the 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 for 2022. There may be three trim levels in the 2022 VW ID.4, like there are in the 2021 VW ID.4. These include the ID.4 Pro, the Pro S, and the First Edition. Prices for these trim levels go up to $50,969.

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro comes with keyless entry, 19-inch wheels, and power adjustable and heated front seats. The Pro S adds a power liftgate and a 12-inch touchscreen, as well as simulated leather upholstery. The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 has pedals which say “Pause” and “Play.” There are white accents and a tow hitch that can tow up to 2,200 pounds.

Is a Volkswagen ID.4 a seven-seater?

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 is not a seven-seat SUV. It holds up to five passengers. If you need more space, you can look at the 2021 Tesla Model Y, which offers seating up to seven passengers.

What is the range in the ID.4?

The 2021 Volkswagen ID.4 range is 240 to 260 miles on a full charge. In addition to the VW ID.4 range being pretty good for an electric SUV, Volkswagen is giving away three years of free charging at Electrify America charging stations when you buy the 2021 VW ID.4. While the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 range hasn’t been released yet, it’s likely to be a little bit better than the 2021 VW ID.4. This is in part thanks to its all-wheel drive option. That will increase the 2022 VW ID.4 range to about 300 miles on a single charge, while also boosting horsepower to 302.

The Kia EV9 range hasn’t officially been announced. It will likely be between 200 and 300 miles from a single charge. The Kia EV9 release is in line with Kia’s plan to release seven electric vehicles by 2027, beginning with the Kia EV6. It will make its official debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 17, 2021. As far as when you’ll actually be able to buy a Kia EV9, it should be released in the second half of 2023. Volkswagen is also committed to expanding its electric vehicle platform. It’s building six electric vehicle plants in Europe, building more Electrify America charging stations in the U.S., and producing one million electric vehicles per year by 2023.
