Most Toyota models are well-rounded performers, and their reliability ratings are just the icing on the cake. The Prius wins out as the most dependable hybrid, and the Camry is one of the highest-rated cars, period. However, not all Toyotas stand out in their respective classes for predicted reliability.

According to data from Consumer Reports, Toyota came in as the second most reliable car brand after Mazda. A few vehicles stopped Toyota from claiming the top spot. But even the least reliable Toyotas are compelling choices.

2021 Toyota Tundra 

The Toyota Tundra is one of the most reliable options in the full-sized truck class. CR gave this pickup a four out of five for reliability. The Tundra is just a little behind a few of its siblings that have perfect predicted reliability ratings. Nonetheless, one common trouble spot for the Tundra is its body integrity, according to CR. 

Toyota has spiced up the Tundra with a sleeker exterior, plus a host of safety and infotainment features. As far as driving dynamics go, the Tundra is very similar to the Toyota 4Runner. The Tundra can feel jittery at times, especially on smooth roads. Still, the Tundra is a worthy choice if you care about off-roading, towing capability, and dependability.

2021 Toyota Highlander 

Like the Tundra, the Highlander has an above-average rating for reliability. The Highlander is one of the most well-rounded options in the midsize SUV class. But you should also know that the Highlander’s most common trouble spots concern its fuel system and in-car electronics, according to CR.

On the bright side, all Highlanders come with a smooth and forceful 295-hp V6 engine. The Highlander has three rows that can accommodate up to eight people. Overall, this SUV provides generous passenger room, and its cargo space is decent too. You’ll also like that Highlander comes with many safety features, including forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

2021 Toyota Avalon 

As with the remaining Toyotas on this list, CR gave the 2021 Avalon only an average rating for predicted reliability with a three out of five. The Camry and the Corolla often outshine the Avalon. But you’ll opt for the Avalon over these two for more interior space and a driving experience that’s reminiscent of a Lexus. 

2021 Toyota Tacoma 

CR affectionately calls the Tacoma Toyota’s “rough-and-tumble compact pickup.” The Tacoma is pretty much ready for whatever adventure you want to throw at it. It’s an exceptional off-roader with an old-school vibe.

 Conversely, you may not enjoy having the Tacoma as your daily driver since it’s a stiff ride. If you don’t care about serious off-roading, it’s worth checking out the Tacoma’s competition, the Honda Ridgeline. According to CR, one of the Tacoma’s main trouble spots is its transmission major. 

2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback 

The Corolla Hatchback earns praise for its sporty looks and handling. Despite this, the hatchback version of the Corolla doesn’t have the same reliability and owner satisfaction ratings that the original has. Like the Tacoma, the Corolla Hatchback’s average ratings reflect minor problems with the car’s transmission major. 

2021 Toyota RAV4

Furthermore, the RAV4 is Toyota’s best-selling vehicle. It features various trim levels and customization options. The RAV4 is a worthy choice for buyers who want an elevated driver’s position and a ride that prioritizes comfort. Nonetheless, CR considers the RAV4 as the least reliable Toyota. This is because the RAV4 has had minor problems with its transmission, fuel system, and electronics.
