Lexus unveiled the 2021 Lexus LS 500 this week and, we’ve gotta say, Lexus really pulled out the stops when refreshing this year’s model. And while it isn’t all that different from models of year’s past, the Lexus LS 500 is finally getting some modern touches that luxury car shoppers will be sure to appreciate. 

The Lexus LS 500 is finally getting a touchscreen display

First things first, the Lexus LS 500 is finally getting a touchscreen display. Measuring in at 12.3-inches, its all-new touchscreen display is pretty sizeable too. Not only that, but Lexus says the LS 500’s touchscreen display is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also offers Amazon Alexa compatibility and will let LS owners take advantage of thousands of skills available through Alexa at home.

Also new to the LS 500’s cabin is the next-generation Remote Touch Interface (RTI) and an optional 24-inch color heads-up display (HUD). Dynamic Navigation is included as a three-year trial on all LS models too. It has helpful features like a Dynamic Map that features cloud-based map updates, Dynamic Routes that offer alternative routes based on traffic conditions Dynamic POI Search that sorts points of interests based on how relevant they are.

What else is new with the 2021 model?

A sizeable touchscreen display and a three-year navigation trial aren’t all that’s new with the 2021 Lexus LS 500 either. The automaker also enhanced the overall ride quality of its flagship sedan. According to Lexus, this included tuning the suspension and chassis to provide drivers with a smoother, more comfortable ride than ever before.

The interior of the Lexus LS 500 also received some welcomed updates beyond its new touchscreen display. Lexus says that the sedan’s armrests, seat cushions, center console armrest padding, along with other touchpoints throughout the cabin received additional foam material to make them even more comfortable. Lexus says the sedan’s front seats have also been improved, though you’ll likely have to test them out for yourself. 

Here’s how much Lexus’ flagship sedan will cost you

There’s no beating around the bush here. This sedan is going to cost you a pretty penny. But it is a Lexus after all, so its price tag shouldn’t be all that shocking. Car and Driver reports that the base LS 500 with rear-wheel drive starts at $77,025. Opt for a base model with all-wheel drive, and that price jumps up to $80,275. The LS 500 F Sport trim, on the other hand, starts at $80,625 for front-wheel drive models and $83,875 for all-wheel drive models.
