Still, there are other convertibles out there that might suit you better than Mazda’s fan favorite. Although according to Kelley Blue Book (KBB), the Mazda MX-5 tops a list that includes the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette C8 and the venerable Ford Mustang.

Why is the Mazda MX-5 Miata so popular?
The Mazda MX-5 Miata has offered sun-soaked fun for over twenty years, and the 2022 Mazda MX-5 is no different. With starting price of $28,715, the 2022 MX-5 undercuts other roadsters like the BMW Z4 by nearly half. However, with 181 horsepower, the little sports car offers less horsepower than many cheaper, faster motorcycles.
Of course, the MX-5 has respectable fuel economy, agile handling, and modern styling unlike anything else on the market.
Is it worth buying a 2023 Chevrolet Corvette?
The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette keeps the C8 Corvette saga going, and this year will see the first flat-plane crank V8-powered Z06 performance model. With sub-three-second sprints to 60 mph, the C8 offers supercar performance with a $65,595 starting price. Still, good luck snagging a C8 Corvette for that amount. The fast, fun and surprisingly efficient C8 definitely earns its spot on KBB’s list of the best convertible cars for 2022, although it’s an odd comparison to the Mazda MX-5.
How much does a 2022 Ford Mustang cost?
The Ford Mustang needs no introduction, and the 2022 model year has something for just about everyone. The EcoBoost’s 21 mpg city and 29 mpg highway make it a somewhat efficient convertible option with modern Mustang styling. Also, with 310 horsepower, it’s quite a bit more potent than the 202 Mazda MX-5 Miata. Still, if you want more muscle in your convertible, you can opt for a more expensive 5.0L V8 GT model.
Is the 2023 Chevrolet Camaro one of the best convertibles on the market?
The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro offers an affordable turbocharged inline-four-cylinder or an exciting 6.2L V8 option. Better yet, the Camaro is available as a convertible like its long-time rival, the Mustang. However, like all muscle cars, it’s quite a bit larger and less efficient than the list-topping 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata.
Is the 2023 MINI convertible a better purchase than the 2022 Mazda MX-5 Miata?
MINI is busy building everything from quirky convertibles to fully-electric variations of the beloved British car. However, to escape the anemic horsepower figures of the Convertible Cooper Classic, you’ll have to opt for the 189-horsepower $36,750 MINI Convertible Cooper S. Better yet, if you want a sharp little retro convertible, consider the John Cooper Works variant and its 228-horsepower turbocharged powerplant.
