The Most Complained About Ram Pickup Trucks
The Ram pickup truck continues to enjoy popularity after separating from Dodge. Since the 2010 model year, Ram Trucks has been its own entity. The lineup still includes the standard half-ton pickup––the Ram 1500 pickup truck. We also see the Ram 1500 Classic, which retains the old body style, and the heavy duty pickup trucks Ram 2500 and Ram 3500. Now, modern Ram trucks have a fresh style and loads of new tech. Plus, they are known for being extremely luxurious and comfortable in the upper trim levels. However, things aren’t always perfect with every truck that’s sold. These are the most complained about Ram pickup trucks.
Of course, the most complained about Ram trucks are also the most popular. Additionally, just because some consumers have complained about a particular model year doesn’t necessarily make it a bad truck. On CarComplaints.com, however, there are some models that are posted as the worst.
The Ram 3500
As the third most bought Ram pickup truck, the Ram 3500 is a heavy hauler that makes our list as third on the list of the most complained about Ram pickup trucks. Overall, there are 145 complaints about this heavy duty pickup truck filed on CarComplaints.com. That is not really that many, but they are there nonetheless. Also, it is more when you consider these trucks have technically had far less time on the market than others like the Ford F-350 or the previous Dodge Ram models.
CarComplaints posts that the worst model for the Ram 3500 is 2013. The 2013 Ram 3500 deals with suspension problems. However, the 2012 model year received the most complaints so far. That model year also claims the most-reported problem. Apparently, the 2012 Ram 3500 heavy duty pickup truck reportedly experiences the “death wobble.”
This truck’s worst problems all occur before 50,000 miles. Consumers have even reported experiencing the death wobble––or shaking while driving––as early as 1,000 miles. The Ram 3500’s worst problems cost between $1,000 and $2,100 to fix.
The Ram 2500
As the second most sold truck in the lineup, the Ram 2500 is also second on the list of most complained about Ram pickup trucks. This truck has 173 complaints filed with CarComplaints.com. It’s another heavy duty pickup truck offered in the Ram Trucks lineup.
The worst model year for the Ram 2500 is shown as 2013 as well. However, this truck deals with some different issues. The 2013 Ram 2500 has engine problems.
The Ram 2500 with the most complaints overall is the 2015 model year. The most-reported problem is the unfortunately familiar death wobble. This issue also occurs in the 2013 model year contributing to its ‘worst’ status.
Ram 1500
The Ram 1500 pickup truck is this maker’s most popular vehicle. So, obviously, this truck is number one on the list of the most complained about pickup trucks. It’s a half-ton competitor in the same class as the Chevy Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150. Overall, the Ram 1500 has 996 complaints filed on CarComplaints.com.
The worst model year for the Ram 1500 pickup truck is 2014 with interior accessory problems. However, the most complained about Ram 1500 is the 2014 model year. The most-reported complaint for this half ton truck is about its issues with GPS/UConnect malfunction.
The Ram 1500 pickup truck‘s worst problem is with its air suspension not working properly. It also experiences a blown engine in the 2015 model year and a check engine light at just 28,000 miles on the 2016 Ram 1500. These ‘worst’ problems const between $1,600 and $7,300 respectively. Overall, Ram trucks are popular and attractive. That doesn’t mean the production line always puts out a perfect truck.
