The Most Complained About Sport Cars
If you’re in the market for a sports car, then it’s extremely important to find out as much information as you can about the one that you’re interested in since it’s likely going to be your second car and weekend warrior. Fortunately, we combed through Carcomplaints.com for you and found the most popular sports cars with the most complaints filed for them. Keep in mind that the numbers by no means denote that any car is less reliable than another as a larger sales volume usually means more complaints filed.
Chevrolet Camaro
The Chevrolet Camaro has been one of the most popular muscle cars to date, spanning six different generations starting from the late 60s. It’s impressive how far the Camaro has come since then and considering it’s been around so long, we’re not too surprised that there are currently 438 complaints filed that nameplate.
Car Complaints lists the 2010 model year at the worst one to get, however, there are many complaints for the 2013 model year. The worst issue listed is for engine problems pertaining to the timing chain wearing out prematurely, which Car Complaints says is a $1,980 fix.
Chevrolet Corvette
The Corvette is easily one of the most popular and venerable sports cars in automotive history and has been around since the 50s. Now in its eighth generation, the Corvette is still gaining in popularity as the mid-engine C8 Corvette is downright revolutionary.
But if you’re looking for an older one, then Car Complaints lists the 2008 model year as the worst year to get. The 2005 model year has the most complaints filed and the worst issue is regarding a mysterious fuel leak. Many owners have complained about this issue and Car Complaints list it as a $2,250 repair on average.
Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang is likely one of the most revered and well-known sports cars all over the globe And considering it’s been in the market since the mid-60s, it’s not a wonder that there are 1,420 complaints listed for it. Car Complaints lists the 2010 model year at the worst one to get, but luckily, the main issue is due to paint issues. Surprisingly, the 2006 model year is the one with the most complaints, which range from engine problems to paint issues. Most owners have issues with the paint on the hood bubbling or flaking off.
Dodge Challenger
We just had to round out the top three muscle cars for this list and if you’re in the market for a Dodge Challenger, then you’ll be happy to know that there are only 263 complaints listed for it. Car Complaints lists the 2012 model year as the worst model year to buy, so it’s no wonder that there are 69 complaints listed for that year.
The worst issue listed is for electrical problems, mainly concerning the alternator failing randomly. Owners have complained about the car shutting off while driving and the typical average repair cost for it is $710.
Subaru Impreza WRX
We just had to list a Japanese sports car amidst all of this American muscle and the Subaru Impreza WRX is definitely one of the most popular. However, it fortunately only has 75 complaints listed for it and the 2015 model year is the worst one to get. The main issue is the clutch pack wearing out and the typical repair cost for it is $1,690.
Sports car complaints
Keep in mind that the sports cars that we listed here are the most popular models, so there were more units sold throughout the time they have all been in production. Due to this, there will always be more complaints as the numbers are not based on percentages, rather they are the sheer number of complaints about each model. Also, the more complaints a car has, it does not mean that it is any less reliable than another.
