Mazda3 four-door sedan

If you’re looking for a compact sedan with the style and grace of an upmarket luxury car, then the Mazda3 is probably one of the best choices to check out. With the choice of either a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine or a larger 2.5-liter engine, you’ll have no trouble finding the right amount of power to suit your daily needs. On top of that, the smaller of the two engines is able to achieve up to an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway, while the larger of the two can pull off 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.

However, if you need more power, then you can opt for the 250-hp, turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that’s still able to achieve up to 23 mpg in the city and up to 32 mpg on the highway in all-wheel-drive form.

Mazda3 Hatchback

So it’s technically not a sedan, however, the Mazda3 still has four doors and a hatchback for extra practicality, so in some ways, it still counts. No matter how you want to look at it, though, it’s still fuel-efficient as it comes with the same 2.5-liter engine that the four-door has, but you also get it with a six-speed manual transmission. If you go with that guise, then you still expect an EPA-estimated fuel return of 24 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, which isn’t bad considering you get to row your own gears.

Mazda6 Sedan

If you really want a premium sedan experience without having to pay a luxury price, then the Mazda6 is easily one of the best choices that you can make. If you do happen to go with a Mazda6, then you have a choice of either a 187-hp, 2.5-liter engine, or a more-potent 227-hp turbocharged engine. The former is capable of an EPA-estimated 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway while the latter can still achieve up to 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.
