The most recent generation Lexus GS frequently positions itself pretty high in US News and World Report’s used luxury midsize car rankings. In fact, the third gen GS has earned several top spots for the 2013 through 2018 model years. It is a GS generation that repeatedly receives impeccable reliability ratings and winning safety marks when reviewed by independent testing agencies. The Lexus GS pampers passengers with ample seating space in both rows, top-notch materials, and a plush ride. Trunk space is generous for the class, as is the standard features list.

Though the Lexus GX and the Lexus NX scored higher on this year’s “top 10 most reliable” list from Consumer Reports, it has more consistency if you look back through the other model years. This entire generation has earned perfect reliability ratings and good customer satisfaction. That means people are saying that if they got a do-over, they’d choose the Lexus GS again. We have a feeling its rock solid reliability has something to do with that consensus.

Both an appropriately maintained used and new model of the Lexus GS is going to be dependable. This is the most reliable Lexus we’re talking about. It has to be bullet proof in terms of reliability or it misses the mark. Even on Car Complaints, there aren’t many people talking smack about this model. So it’s safe to say whether you choose new or used you’re pretty likely to end up with a lasting automobile that gives you little trouble.
The new Lexus GS is a work of art, though. Yeah, you’ll save a bundle if you purchase one of the older used GS models this generation includes, but if you can splurge, we say go for it. Lexus has made some alluring updates to the third gen GS.
