If you enjoy off-roading, you may be considering a Jeep Wrangler. After all, the Wrangler has been known for its toughness and trail-handling capabilities all the way back to World War II.  There is also a new version of the Wrangler that will up the game even further. But don’t head to your dealership just yet. As Mopar Insiders notes, this newest Jeep is available only in Mexico, and in very limited numbers at that.

About the limited edition

This special-edition Wrangler is known as the Rubicon Xtreme-Trail Rated Limited Edition. Released only to Mexican markets, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Mexico announced they would produce only 100 of these unique vehicles. Here’s what you can expect if you are lucky enough to come across one.

The Rubicon Xtreme Trail Rated edition features a 3.6-liter, V6 Pentastar engine, which is capable of 285 hp and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that includes stop-start technology and is designed to provide a great deal of torque at low rpm.

What sets this Jeep Wrangler Rubicon apart is its hill and rock climbing abilities. The limited edition has an ascent or crawl ratio of 77:2:1. It’s also equipped with the Rock-Trac 4×4 system, which can help you easily navigate sandy, rocky, or muddy terrain with ease.

This model contains upgraded bumpers, along with 4.10 front and rear axles and Tru-Lock differentials. The vehicle comes standard with a trail-rated kit that includes a tow strap and other items to make getting out of tough spots a breeze. The sturdy bumpers also contain their own red tow hooks and provide enough space to easily accommodate a winch. You can even remove their corners for greater maneuverability.

The Jeep Wrangler Xtreme Trail Rated Edition’s features

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Trail Rated Edition comes in only one color: Solar Yellow. The body contains the same bold appearance that has made the Wrangler an icon among off-road SUVs. In describing the body, Chrysler noted that “it exhibits a wide appearance and low waistline, increasing the size of its windows to improve exterior visibility.”

They further described it as staying “true to the original by incorporating the traditional seven-bar grill, the iconic round headlights, and square taillights.” Accordingly, you will not notice much difference between this version and a traditional Jeep Wrangler, aside from a few minor differences.

Inside, you’ll find a more luxurious, comfortable appeal, thanks to the eye-catching red trim across the front dashboard. The 8.4-inch infotainment system will allow you to easily navigate the backroads, while the easy-to-use steering wheel controls can help keep you connected. The 7-inch instrument panel includes an LED display and can be customized in more than 100 different ways. Through UConnect, you can incorporate Apple CarPlay or Android CarPlay.

Even while driving under extreme conditions, you will not have to sacrifice safety. This Jeep Wrangler features more than 75 active and passive safety components to protect you and your passengers. A few of these include rearview crossover control, electronic stability control with electronic rollover mitigation, and blind-spot monitoring. Four airbags are included as well.

Models are going fast

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Xtreme Trail Rated SUV is currently available for a price of 998,900 pesos. This amounts to around $53,157 in U.S. dollars. Even at that price, the 100 limited-edition vehicles are expected to go quickly. How long will it be until a used model enters the U.S. market, and how much could you expect to pay for one when it does? Only time will tell when, how, or if that does indeed become a possibility.
