The New Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition Is Getting NSX Treatment
For the 2023 model year, Honda’s luxury brand Acura will release what it calls the “best performing Acura sedan ever” with the TLX Type S PMC Edition. Built in the company’s Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Ohio, the four-door car will be the fifth vehicle to receive the same limited production craftsmanship by the master technicians that produced the out-going Acura NSX hybrid supercar.
When is the 2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition available?
According to Acura, production for the 2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition is slated for later this year. After PMC technicians construct the sedan by hand, each vehicle receives the same quality control checks as the NSX. This includes a dyno run, paint inspection, and rough-road simulation.
The automaker added that each PMC Edition is wrapped in a bespoke car cover too. Each is also delivered to dealerships in an enclosed, single-car carrier.
How much will the TLX Sedan’s PMC Edition cost?
Pricing for the TLX Type S PMC Edition hasn’t been released by Acura. However, based on the 2023 TLX Type S’s presumed MSRP of around $54,000, the PMC Edition will almost certainly cost more than that.
Additionally, Acura won’t reveal production numbers. Only 360 slots were allotted to the previous generation TLX PMC Edition, too. Only expected a few hundred models with a price tag nearing $60,000.
How is the PMC Edition different from the standard TLX?

Buyers looking for big power increases from the NSX builders will have to be content with the Type S performance figures, and torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, as the PMC Edition, won’t receive any drivetrain upgrades. A 0-60 time in the mid-four-second range will satisfy, regardless.
Where the TLX sedan and PMC Edition diverge is in appearance. Each TLX PMC Edition sedan comes in three distinct, NSX-derived colors:
- Curva Red with Ebony interior
- 130R White with Red interior
- Long Beach Blue with Orchid interior
Exterior design elements exclusive to the PMC Edition include a Berlina Black roof panel, antenna, door handles, and black-chrome quad-exhaust tips. The lightweight, NSX-inspired, 20-inch Y-spoke wheels will feature a bespoke Copper finish—a first for an Acura—wrapped in corner-hugging 255/35 Pirelli P-Zero Summer Tires. Additional enhancements include a carbon fiber decklid spoiler, carbon fiber rear diffuser, lower side sill embellishments, and gloss-black exterior badging for the limited production-run sedan.
On the interior, the PMC Edition further distinguishes itself from the TLX Type S with carbon fiber trim, illuminated side sills, and custom floor mats with Type S badges highlighted by exterior color contrast stitching. Mounted on the dash in front of the Milano leather seats is a sporty, flat-bottomed heated steering wheel, flanked by an individually numbered serial plaque on the lower console designating the PMC Edition as a limited-edition, handcrafted vehicle from the Marysville, Ohio, factory.
Should you buy the 2023 Acura TLX Type S PMC Edition?
Most Acura PMC Editions of the past came in just one color. Buyers now have a chance to experience the delight of the NSX’s premium nano-pigment paints. Even if the gorgeous color combinations and carbon fiber accouterments aren’t enough to convince, potential buyers should understand that what you’re getting with the PMC Edition sedan is exclusivity at a markdown rate.
The NSX democratized the hybrid supercar. It gave buyers the same range of technology Ferrari, Porsche, and McLaren offered for five and six times the cost. The Acura TLX PMC Edition offers individuals a chance to own a rare vehicle with trickle-down supercar options without the headache-inducing MSRP. Since auto manufacturers commonly charge far beyond $100,000 for a limited-production, hand-built car, the TLX Type S PMC Edition, at whatever the starting price may be, can be considered a bargain.
