The 2021 Dodge Durango is officially on the prowl. This monster of a family SUV will undoubtedly be more tantalizing than ever thanks to its supreme performance capabilities, including the all-new SRT Hellcat variant. Style-wise though, the new Durango isn’t as memorable.

Reviews on the Dodge Durango’s “new” look are mixed 

Dodge gave the Durango’s exterior the mildest of refreshes. The going trend with newer SUVs is to make them look sleeker and more refined. Dodge ended up making the Durango look even bulkier, especially at the front. The Durango’s heftier front bumper distracts from the subtly changed headlights. We think the updated rear spoiler is the most obvious change on the outside but even that’s an easy miss.

These changes have garnered mixed reviews from critics and fans alike as evidenced by Dodge’s Facebook post.  Some say that the Durango’s blockier look takes away from its performance offerings.  Others say that Dodge should leave the muscle aesthetic for actual muscle cars, not SUVs. To be fair though, the Durango’s appeal never had to do much with its looks. Still, it’s kind of disappointing that the Durango has pretty much looked the same for the last seven years now. 

The 2021 Durango looks more impressive on the inside 

The Durango has always been comfortable on the inside and its cabin is known for being nicely finished. Even so, the SUV’s interior was due for a refresh. The 2021 Durango looks glossier and swanky on the inside, much like the new Dodge Challenger. Not only is the 2021 Durango’s car cabin flashier, but it is also more functional too. Dodge made it a point to give the Durango a “performance-inspired” cabin which includes an updated instrument panel, accent-stitched mid-bolster, and center console. There are more storage compartments too.

Dodge also made improvements to the Durango’s already great infotainment system. The Durango will feature the carmaker’s updated Uconnect 5 software which is supposed to be five times faster than the last version. What makes the Durango’s infotainment system so user friendly is that it’s accessible through traditional rotary knobs as well as through a touchscreen.

New infotainment updates also include the largest available in-class 10.1-inch touchscreen and additional voice commands. Other popular features include Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.  The Durango can also be equipped with a wifi hotspot and with a rear-seat entertainment system.

Can’t forget about power 

The Dodge Durango already claimed to be the king of SUVs and the 2021 variants further support that. Unsurprisingly, the SRT Hellcat model powered by a supercharged 710-hp, 6.2-liter V8 is commanding the most attention; you just have to hear it roar. There are also three other engine options available on the 2021 Durango. 

The 295-hp V6 is the most efficient option in the lineup. You can also pick from either a  475-hp 6.4-liter V8 or a 360-hp V8. It’s pretty safe to say that no other SUV has the same performance offerings as the Durango.
