2021 Hyundai Kona N Line
The Hyundai Kona has only been around since 2018, but it’s already receiving a new redesign and a significant performance upgrade. Hyundai announced that the Kona will be the next model to receive the N line treatment to become more attractive to a broader audience.
To match the N Line treatment, the 2021 Hyundai Kona looks more aggressive with a broader base, a front skid plate, a new shark inspired nose, enhanced daytime running lights, and a beefier front bumper.
This redesign will help the Hyundai Kona N Line become more aerodynamic with a low-set air intake system. The N Line treatment is for speed and sportier drive, but the skid plate suggests that the Kona may gain more off-roading power.
If the Hyundai Kona is both sportier and more capable, then it will be better equipped to take on rivals such as the Kia Seltos, Jeep Renegade, Subaru Crosstrek, and more. Maybe all-wheel drive will come standard as it does with the Kia Seltos.
What is the Hyundai N Line treatment?
The Hyundai Kona will be the next N Line model after the 2021 Hyundai Elantra sedan. So, we can look toward this upcoming model for a few clues as to what to expect. And we can expect power.
A 1.6-liter turbo engine powers the Hyundai Elantra N Line and provides 201 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of torque. This amount of power with the compact Hyundai Kona will send it flying, so that’s exciting.
The N Line Elantra is also equipped with a stiffer suspension to improve handling for a sportier feel. It’s also available with a six-speed manual transmission that will make the Elantra more exciting to race around.
With the help of a larger cool air intake system, integrated spoiler, dual exhaust system, and unique N Line diffuser, the Hyundai Elantra can perform to the best of its abilities. We would love to test one!
What else to expect with the 2021 Hyundai Kona
The Hyundai Kona has a relatively low starting price of around $20k, making it an economical option. Hopefully, prices will remain low. However, the N Line could add luxurious features such as chrome badging and enhanced tech to up the price.
Along with joining the N Line models, the 2021 Hyundai Kona is going to the dark side with a new Night trim. As expected, the Night Edition has a darker grille, rims, and more with an all-black interior.
The Hyundai Kona has a weak base model engine, but the 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo provides 175 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.
