You don’t hear much about the Nissan Armada. It seems to be buried behind other options such as the Kicks or Murano. So we would like to know why. Let’s take a look at what the Nissan Armada has to offer. 

How Capable Is the Nissan Armada? 

The Nissan Armada is a full-size SUV that can seat up to eight passengers, giving it the ability to take your whole family on adventures.

You can get started in a Nissan Armada for about $47k, making it competitively priced against the Chevy Tahoe and Ford Explorer. 

Then to our disappointment, the Armada has a terrible fuel economy. It only gets 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. What the heck? At least the Chevy Tahoe gets up to 22 mpg on the highway. 

Nissan Armada Power 

Under the hood of the Nissan Armada, you will find a 5.6-liter V8 engine that produces 390 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque. 

This amount of power makes the Armada a heavy hauling beast with a maximum towing capacity of 8,500 lb. The Chevy Tahoe can only tow up to 6,600 lb. 

The Nissan Armada also has an impressive pickup. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. This is much faster than other SUVs. 

We like that the Nissan Armada is available in four-wheel drive to give you the ability to traverse through snow, dirt, mud, and more. 

The Armada has a ground clearance of 9.6” for going over obstacles on the trail, but keep in mind that this SUV isn’t Jeep. However, it should be moderately equipped to go farther than the Pathfinder and other competitors. 

By having a 22.8-degree approach angle and a 22.6-departure angle, the Armada is a fair competitor against other large off-roading SUVs. 

Nissan Armada Features 

We were shocked to learn that the Nissan Armada can’t connect to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. This is a standard feature found in most modern vehicles. 

However, the 8” infotainment center can connect via Bluetooth. It also has voice recognition for hands-free texting and a navigation display. 

Also, we are impressed by the acoustic windows and increased nose cancellation padding in the cabin for a quiet and comfortable ride. 

The independent wishbone rear suspension and stabilizer bars on the front and rear also provide a very smooth ride. 

Behind the rear seats, you can access up to 16.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Once the seats are folded down, you can access up to 95.4 cubic feet of cargo space, which is pretty good. However, the Chevy Tahoe has up to 125 cubic feet of cargo space. 

Take advantage of the Dual Zone Climate Control feature to remain comfortable. There are also AC controls in the back for your passengers to use. 

The Armada is also very safe with a crumpling hood to make sure you stop before getting hurt and shock absorbent steering column. 

By having side airbags, you can trust that your passengers will remain safe as well. Plus, it has the standard safety features such as forward collision prevention, lane departure assistance, and much more. 

If you can get past the lacking fuel economy, this SUV is pretty capable, comfortable, and advanced. It’s smaller than the Chevy Tahoe but outperforms it in a few key areas. We think the Nissan Armada deserves a chance.
