The Nissan Armada Isn’t the Worst Three-Row SUV
We know that there are some terrible three-row SUVs out there that should be avoided, but the Nissan Armada isn’t one of them. The 2020 Nissan Armada has plenty of positive features to battle against rivals.
Is the 2020 Nissan Armada a good SUV?
Yes, the 2020 Nissan Armada is a good SUV that shows families a little bit of luxury without being outrageously priced. For example, the Nissan Armada base model starts around 47k, while the Ford Expedition starts around $52k.
However, you won’t find a stellar fuel economy here. The Nissan Armada only gets up to 14 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. But for a larger SUV, this is close to average. The Chevy Tahoe, for example, only manages 22 mpg on the highway.
To get a better fuel economy, you may want to consider a hybrid option, like the Toyota Highlander. Only keep in mind that the Toyota Highlander isn’t a massive three-row SUV, and space will be limited.
2020 Nissan Armada Performance
The 2020 Nissan Armada comes with a powerful 5.6-liter V8 engine that pumps out 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, it can tow up to 8,500 lb. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Suburban can only tow up to 6,300 lb.
Because the Nissan Armada is offered in real-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, you can trust that it has a sporty performance. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. This is faster than the Chevy Tahoe that reaches 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.
According to Edmunds, the Nissan Armada delivers a smooth ride with a quiet cabin. The 7-speed transmission seemed to provide smooth power, but there was a bit of body roll. Also, the handling could be improved. The Kia Telluride may have better handling, but it was noted for having a bumpy ride, which isn’t what you want with a luxury SUV.
Also, the 2020 Nissan Armada is good in the snow thanks to its intelligent all-wheel-drive system that automatically adjusts power and torque to prevent slipping. The rear independent suspension also enhances control in slippery conditions and makes towing more convenient.
2020 Nissan Armada features
The 2020 Nissan Armada is enormous. There are up to 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear and up to 171.3 cubic feet. Plus, there is under the floor storage for extra room.
The third row of seats is noted for being smaller. Ideally, children should be placed back there. However, it doesn’t receive the grief that the Toyota 4Runner does for its cramped third row.
Also, the Nissan Armada doesn’t have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is a significant complaint used against it. But with Bluetooth and Nissan Connect, your media will be streamed over the radio hands-free without any issues.
In terms of tech, the Nissan Armada is loaded with convenience. It has a power third row that folds the seats with the touch of a button, which is one of the most notorious features missing from the Telluride.
