If you’ve been looking for a luxury SUV, chances are that you’ve come across some pretty great choices. The luxury SUV market is saturated with SUVs worthy of many accolades, including safety and comfort. Yet there is one luxury SUV that shines above all of them: the 2021 Lexus UX. It’s one of the smaller Lexus SUV models, and its size, affordability (as far as luxury SUVs go), and Consumer Reports ratings make it the perfect entry-level luxury SUV for anyone looking for a new ride.

Is the 2021 Lexus UX a good car?

The 2021 Lexus UX is a great entry-level luxury SUV. Consumer Reports also recommends it. That award alone would have some scrambling to buy one, but the 2021 Lexus UX offers a lot more than just a label of any kind. It’s ranked number one out of 11 luxury entry-level sport utility vehicles, and with good reason. The Lexus UX has a good road test score, excellent reliability rating, and very good predicted owner satisfaction score.

The 2021 Lexus UX has front-wheel drive and a comfortable interior. However, Consumer Reports notes that it isn’t quite as nice and luxurious as some of the bigger Lexus SUV models. Still, for the $33,000 that the 2021 UX starts at, it’s a pretty decent SUV.

Is the Lexus UX a reliable car?

The 2021 Lexus UX has a perfect reliability rating of 5/5. To determine a vehicle’s reliability rating, Consumer Reports sends out a survey asking former owners of the particular model what their thoughts are on the SUV and what kind of repairs they’ve had to do. They then compare these survey results with their own knowledge of how vehicles are built. They also consider how they tend to last over time, and how they compare to other similar vehicles, and they assign the vehicle a reliability rating. To score a perfect reliability rating is certainly a selling point for the Lexus UX.

There is no reliability rating for the 2020 Lexus UX, but the 2019 Lexus UX also has a perfect reliability rating. Nearly every subcategory within the 2019 Lexus UX’s reliability ratings are also perfect 5/5s. The only exception is the power equipment, which receives a 3/5. The power equipment may include “Cruise control, clock, warning lights, body control module, keyless entry, wiper motor or washer, tire pressure monitor, interior or exterior lights, horn, gauges, 12V power plug, remote engine start, alarm or security system.”

What does UX mean in Lexus UX?

The UX in Lexus UX stands for “Urban Crossover.” Lexus considers the Lexus UX to be its first compact luxury crossover SUV. Lexus says the UX is supposed to “embody a free-spirited style that would appeal to modern urban explorers who seek fresh, dynamic takes on a luxury lifestyle.”

There is also a hybrid version of the 2021 Lexus UX available. Lexus sees the UX as potentially being someone’s first Lexus SUV model, as well as potentially their first luxury SUV model.

If you’re thinking about getting into the luxury SUV game, the 2021 Lexus UX is a great choice. With its comfort, style, and reliability ratings, the 2021 Lexus UX deserves its number one spot on Consumer Reports’ list.
