Are you looking for a used car with Apple CarPlay? When Apple unveiled its CarPlay software, it changed infotainment forever. The beautiful, convenient system connects to your phone and integrates your favorite apps into your car. The world first glimpsed the iOS software at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show with select Volvo, Mercedes, and Ferrari prototypes demonstrating fully-working systems. The 2014 Ferrari FF was the first car available to the public with CarPlay. It was followed by the 2014 Kia Soul. But other manufacturers were slower to integrate the iOS software. Here are the oldest cars with Apple CarPlay that you can buy.

2014-2015: Apple CarPlay is limited to select Ferrari, Kia, and Hyundai models

One of the oldest cars you can buy with Apple CarPlay technology is a 2014 Kia Soul. In 2015 Kia offered CarPlay on several models. These included the 2015 Kia Optima, 2015 Kia Sedona, and 2015 Kia Soul EV.

In 2015, Hyundai introduced Apple Play on select vehicles. These included the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan, 2015 Hyundai Azera, and 2015 Hyundai Sonata.

2016: General Motors added Apple CarPlay to most models

The model year 2016 saw an explosion of CarPlay offerings. General Motors led this charge.

2016 and on cars available with CarPlay include several Cadillacs: the Cadillac ATS and ATS-V. The Cadillac CT6, Cadillac CTS, Cadillac CTS-V, Cadillac ELR, Cadillac XTS, and Cadillac Escalade / ESV.

Chevrolet added CarPlay to many of its cars as well. These include the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Colorado, Chevrolet Corvette, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Silverado, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Suburban, and Chevrolet Tahoe.

In 2016, General Motors also added Apple CarPlay to several of its GMC vehicles. These included the 2016 GMC Canyon, GMC Sierra, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL. GM also added CarPlay to the 2016 Buick LaCrosse and Regal.

2016: Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and others integrate CarPlay

The Ferrari company was the first brand to offer CarPlay with the 2014 Ferrari FF. In 2016, Ferrari expanded CarPlay to the Ferrari 488 GTB and Spider, Ferrari California T, and the Ferrari F12 tdf and Berlinetta.

Mercedes-Benz was also an early adopter of Apple Carplay with its 2014 prototypes. In 2016, this German automaker added CarPlay to many models. These included the 2016 Mercedes CLA-Class, Mercedes CLS-Class, Mercedes E-Class, Mercedes GLA, and Mercedes GLE.

Volkswagen also hopped on the iOS bandwagon early. The manufacturer integrated CarPlay into the 2016 Volkswagen Beetle, Volkswagen CC, Volkswagen e-Golf, Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen GTI, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Passat, and Volkswagen Tiguan. When Volkswagen introduced the Atlas for the 2018 model year, it also had Apple CarPlay.

In 2016, other brands only integrated the iPhone connectivity into select models. Honda tried out CarPlay on its 2016 Accord and Civic. Hyundai added the software to its 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT, Hyundai Tucson, and Hyundai Veloster. Mitsubishi experimented with the software on its 2016 Mirage and Pajero. In 2016, Volvo only offered CarPlay on the XC90.

Audi, BMW, Dodge, and Ford added Apple CarPlay later

If you are looking for an old car with Apple CarPlay, steer clear of Ford, Dodge, Audi, and BMW. These major brands did not embrace the new technology until 2017 or later. If you have your heart set on an older car, but your mind wants CarPlay, remember you can always add it aftermarket.
