At the top of the F-150 range, Ford offers two very different trim levels. Ford’s Special Vehicle Team (SVT) tunes the Raptor for high-speed desert racing. At an even higher price point, the Ford F-150 Limited sets the bar for luxury trucks.

No vehicle says work hard and play hard quite like the Ford F-150 Raptor. Ford’s SVT department built one of the first supercharged street-race-ready trucks: the F-150 Lightning. Then the team set its sights on off-road racing. The result is the now legendary first-generation F-150 Raptor.

The 2022 Raptor is still inspired by desert-racing trophy trucks. It features long-travel suspension with FOX Racing shocks and optional 37-inch tires. This third-generation Raptor features a twin-turbocharged V6 tuned by SVT for 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque. Automatic 4WD, electronically locking rear differential, and available TORSEN front differential puts all that power to the ground.

The latest Raptor also features many off-road driver aids: selectable drive modes, Ford’s 1-Pedal Drive, Trail Turn Assist, and low-speed cruise control called Trail Control.

The Ford Raptor is unique

The Ford F-150 Raptor is instantly recognizable. No truck in the world looks like a Raptor; even someone who’s never seen a Raptor recognizes it as an off-road beast. The Raptor’s distinct look is the result of its form meeting function.

High clearance steel bumpers frame its unique style. The front bumper flows into the truck’s heavy-duty skidplates. The Raptor’s wide black fender flares are necessary to cover its standard 33-inch, and optional 37-inch tires.

Recognizable amber marker lights ring its wide grille with unique “FORD” lettering. These are because its tires and fender flares are so wide it must wear tractor-trailer-type markers.
