The Pricey Lykan Hypersport Is 1 of the Fastest Cars in the World
In case you have never heard of the Lykan Hypersport, don’t worry, not many people have. Unless they have seen the movie Furious 7, in which Paul Walker and Vin Diesel’s characters steal a Lykan Hypersport and crash it through a few different buildings. But in reality, the Lykan is an ultra-rare, ultra-expensive hypercar that only the world’s elite can likely afford. And as you probably already know, it’s really fast too.
The Lykan Hypersport is extremely rare and expensive
Just how rare is the Lykan Hypersport? Well, there are only seven of them in the world and one of them belongs to professional baseball player Hector Olivera. What makes it so rare is that it’s built by an Arabian supercar company named W Motors, which was founded by Ralph R Debbas and Sari El Khalil in July of 2012 and is headquartered in Dubai. In 2013, W Motors debuted the Lykan Hypersport at the 2013 International Qatar Motor Show.
The car was a sight to behold as it was not only built by the first Arabian car company, but it also featured a price tag that was fitting of its looks and outrageous performance. Just how much does a Lyken Hypersport? It costs $3.4 million, which makes the Bugatti Veyron look like a bargain in comparison.
How powerful is the Lykan Hypersport?
The Lykan Hypersport is powered by a turbocharged 3.5-liter, flat-six Porsche engine that puts out a staggering 750 horsepower and 708 lb-ft of torque that’s able to propel this 3,086-pound exotic to 60 mph in about 2.8 seconds and on up to a top speed of 245 mph. The interesting part is that the Lykan is actually rear-wheel-drive, as opposed to all-wheel-drive. We would think that with this much power, more traction would be needed.
Power isn’t its only attribute
The car’s earth-pounding performance isn’t the only part of the car that drives such a high price tag, nor its rarity. According to W Motors, the main reason for the car’s shocking price tag is its exclusive features. For starters, the headlights are made up of titanium LED blades that have 420 diamonds etched into them. On the inside, the cabin is adorned with gold-stitched leather and real carbon fiber, and in addition to having a navigation system, the Lykan also has a 9-inch “Virtual Holographic Display.” We didn’t know what it was, either. So here is a quick video to demonstrate.
There are a couple of other cool facts about the Lykan Hypersport
Aside from the ultra-luxurious and tech-savvy interior, as well as the powerful engine, the purchase of a Lykan Hypersport also comes with a few perks. You also get dedicated 24-hour concierge service and a free Cyrus Klepcy luxury watch that’s valued at around $177,300. Although considering that you’re paying over $3 million for the car, we can just consider the watch part of the price of entry.
As far as the car’s striking design goes, the story behind its design philosophy is that it was inspired by the Arabic symbol for the number seven, which is “V.” Hence, the V-like design elements all over the car. Also, the number is considered a very lucky number, which could also be the reason that there are only seven Lykan Hypersports ever produced.
