The Ram 1500 TRX Already Needs More Power
If 702 hp wasn’t enough, the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX has you covered because it could be getting a new, more powerful engine. Ram knows that the new Ford Raptor is coming out, and they’re scared that it will have more horsepower, so they’re already upping the ante.
The 2021 Ram 1500 TRX could become the Hellcat Redeye
When the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX arrives in showrooms soon, it will be the most powerful truck in the world, with the goal of outperforming the infamous new Ford Raptor that’s on the way. That’s why in addition to currently having 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, the Ram TRX also has incredible off-roading components.
The current Ford Raptor only has 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque with the most robust engine option. But they have a trick up their sleeve. According to TorqueNews, Ford plans to place the supercharged V8 that comes in the Shelby GT500 Mustang in the new F-150 Raptor.
In the Ford Mustang GT5000, the supercharged V8 engine provides 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. In the Ford Raptor, that would be quite the upgrade. The Raptor would steal the title of the most powerful truck in the world from Ram.
However, placing the V8 in the Ford Raptor may reduce the horsepower, so they would need to do a little work to enhance the torque level. Also, even if it didn’t provide 760 hp, it still could provide more than 702 hp.
The new 2021 Ram 1500 TRX engine
While there hasn’t been any word about the Ram 1500 TRX getting the Dodge Hellcat Redeye engine, there is a slim chance. TorqueNews has clarified that this is purely speculation. Also, ‘Redeye’ is a Dodge moniker. So, if the Hellcat Redeye that’s found in the Dodge Charger and Challenger makes its way into the TRX, it will probably have a different name.
If Ram has been considering how much power the new Ford Raptor could have, then maybe they planned ahead with the Hellcat Redeye engine to stay in first place. The Redeye Hellcat is a 6.2-liter engine with a larger supercharger and a lot more power.
In Dodge cars, it provides 797 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque. If it was returned a little, it could still offer more power than the GT500 engine has in the Ford Raptor. This would help Ram take and keep the crown because the GT500 engine is the most powerful option that Ford has to offer.
Is the Ram 1500 TRX a good truck?
Yes, on paper, it’s an excellent off-roading option, but we still need to see how reviews and critics feel after testing it. The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 allows it to accelerate in 4.5 seconds, so it’s also fast along with being a rugged off-roader.
It has 11.8-inches of ground clearance, 13-inches of front suspension travel, and 14-inches of rear suspension travel to climb over obstacles. The all-new Bilstein Black Hawk e2 shock system monitors the Ram TRX performance needs to automatically adjust to speed, braking torque, and more for enhanced body control. However, this truck has one hefty starting price of around $69,995.
