Some campers are bigger than others. I’ll go ahead and take my Pulitzer now for that piece of hard-hitting journalism. In all seriousness, the growing popularity of camper, trailers, motorhomes, and all other types of RVs has made the market blossom to offer a wide variety of live-in vehicles of all shapes and sizes. On the one hand, you got the half-million-dollar Earthroamer monster truck, and on the other hand, you’ve got the Ravy micro camper. 

Where did this cutie come from?

As seen on Gear Patrol, the Ravy is a product of Daon, a small Korean manufacturer. Like most camper vans these days, the Ravy is built on the frame of an already existing production car. If there is something familiar about the cute little Ravy, that’s because it is made out of a Kia Ray. The Ray is kind of like the little brother of the Kia Soul. According to Gear Patrol, and rather unbelievably, the Ray and in turn, the Ravy, is two feet shorter than the already compact Kia Soul. 

The Ravy specs

Somehow the Ravy, being as small as it is, has a bed in it. Well, that’s not exactly right; honestly the entire thing turns into a bed. The mattress folds up while the Is in regular mode, but once parked and the mattress is deployed, it takes up the entire cabin, all the way up the steering wheel—the mattress measures to about the same length as an extra-long twin bed and a few inches wider. 

As long as the Ravy isn’t covered in the mattress, there is somehow also a kitchen in the tiny camper. If you open the trunk/back hatch of the Ravy there you will find the little camper kitchen. There is a small pantry, sink, and a drawer that holds a gas camp stove. 

A second bed?

The coolest part about any camper van with a pop-top is, well, the pop-top. The tent pop-top not only opens to give the minuscule van some much-needed headroom, but it also holds a second sleeping space. It is unreal that four people can sleep in this mini machine. If the bed is folded up, the normal cabin can be turned into a lounge area.  

Other features loaded into the tiny camper are multiple USB charging ports, a pop-up heater outlet, and multiple storage areas. If you find yourself deep in the weeds and in need of auxiliary power, the Ravy has a 100A power bank battery for all your power needs. 

The Ravy isn’t the only thing Daon makes

While the Ravy is the smallest and least expensive offering from Daon, they have other campers of various styles. The main verison being the Reventus 680S Class B camper. The class B campers are much larger and more well-equipped than the Ravy. The 680S starts life as a Renault Master camper that gets the Daon treatment. 

Unlike the Ravy, the 680S is not trying to cram every inch with a feature. It is large enough to give every feature its own luxurious space. It has multiple beds, a bathroom, a full kitchen, and swiveling chairs to make a large common area. 

The Ravy is not coming here

As is often the case, the coolest things from Asia don’t come here. Although I am probably too tall to make good use of the Ravy, it really is the perfect practical camper. Aside from it being tiny and daily-able, it only runs $22,000. Once the 25 year import time runs out in 2045, you might want to look into importing one of these bad boys.
