The Special Edition Harley Davidson F-150 Isn’t Built by Ford
It’s been eight years since the last Ford pickup truck inspired by Harley-Davidson. So fans were excited to hear that a Harley inspired truck would be returning for the 2020 model year. Even better, the 2020 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson Edition isn’t strictly an appearance package inspired by the iconic motorcycle brand. It also offers a few updates too. Although, strangely enough, the truck won’t be built by Ford.
Why isn’t the Harley Davidson F-150 built by Ford?
The special edition Ford offers two big differences in its second incarnation. It’s now offered in both the F-150 and the latest F-250 and it’s not built by Ford. Where is the truck being produced? It’s being produced and sold by the Tuscany Motor Company.
The “Official Harley-Davidson truck” is an F-250 loaded with many features exclusive to the package. The truck has a unique interior styling and features Harley-Davidson’s logo. Unlike the first Harley-Davidson edition, this truck rides on a suspension specifically designed by the motorcycle company by BDS.
While the second edition keeps the monochromatic exterior of the first edition, it’s got more pizzazz. It has a more athletic look thanks to the latest F-250 with its huge front grille. There are orange accents on the grille and front fender badges.
The brightness contrasts nicely with the black, gray, and white paint and calls to mind the traditional logo of Harley-Davidson. This special edition truck offers a special dark-tinted grille insert with honeycomb mesh.
The grille also jazzes up the front bumper and hood that features a fully functional Ram Air system. The front bumper is body painted to enhance the monochromatic theme of the package.
The prowess of the F-250 wasn’t overlooked. The Tuscany Motor Company threw in a handful of accessories for off-roading like tow hooks and an LED light bar built into the front bumper.
Power and performance
Under the hood is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that’s got power. It registers an impressive 450 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. It runs on Fox performance shocks that have custom tuning. To work in harmony with the suspension configuration and the new wheels, they recalibrated the tire sensors.
The cost makes it the most high-priced F-250 available. The top-level Limited starts around $67,135 while you’re not going to get the F-150 Raptor for less than $52,885.
The special edition Harley-Davidson F-150 starts at $97,415. With the upgrade to White Platinum, you’ll pay $97,710. If you want the custom ordered gray Leadfoot color, you’ll pay $98,433.
When you buy a special edition model of a car, the sticker price will be high. So it is with the Harley-Davidson Edition Ford F-150 but with all the customization and exclusive features it offers, it may well be worth it.
A distinctive monochromatic theme
Everything is painted the same color on the sides of the truck including the front fender vents, the fender flares, and the running boards. There’s Harley-Davidson lettering on the front doors and mirror caps that are color-matched. There’s also an orange Harley-Davidson badge on the fenders offering a color contrast. The wheel design, in particular, is eye-catching.
At the back of the truck, the monochromatic theme continues with a gray tailgate insert featuring Harley-Davidson lettering and a painted bumper.
The standard truck is Agate Black in color with White Platinum as an option. There’s also a lead-foot gray available but must be special-ordered from Tuscany.
In the truck’s cabin, you’ll find more black and orange with custom leather seat covers sporting an orange diamond pattern and special embroidered “Harley-Davidson” badges. The dashboard, door panels, and steering wheel all feature the accent color with the “Harley-Davidson” logo found on the door sills and carpeted floor mats.
Rounding out this special edition truck are billet racing pedals, heavily tinted windows, stainless steel gauges, and a numbered console emblem.
