The 2021 Ford Bronco might not be for everyone, but it appears Ford has managed to put together a pretty solid model year. The name “Bronco” conjures up memories of wars with the Chevy Blazer and decades of seeing old models on the highway.

After all, the Ford Bronco had plenty of popularity through its discontinuation in 1996. But all those cars are old now, so the perception of the Ford Bronco in popular culture is one of a dated, tired car.

The 2021 Ford Bronco trim differences

The 2021 Bronco will be available in multiple trims — the Ford Bronco and Ford Bronco Sport are two major options for consumers. In addition to deciding if they want a two-door or four-door model, Bronco buyers will also need to decide how much Bronco they really need.

Moving up to the higher trim levels will provide more torque and horsepower along with up to 400 lb-ft of force. But Ford isn’t forcing buyers to move up to the higher levels to celebrate the Bronco’s return.

Do you need to spend up for a good Bronco?

With a staggering six total trim levels, Ford certainly extends the option for buyers who want to get more. But the company made sure you don’t have to. A recent Car and Driver roundup of the different trims highly praised the base model.

Four-wheel drive and a manual seven-speed transmission are available right from the go. For buyers who want to move up a little without purchasing an entirely different trim, Ford also offers upgrades to a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine and automatic transmission (10-speed). And that’s all on the base model. The cloth seats, standard 16-inch wheels, carpet floor, and seven color options go a long way toward making what might seem like a budget purchase palatable.

The 2021 Ford Bronco reveal was an event all its own. Although rumors had been swirling that Ford planned to revisit one of its most popular models, seeing it unfold was enough to excite even the most jaded Ford fans.

Ford quickly went public with the rest of its plans to compete directly against Jeep vehicles. The first new Bronco hasn’t even been sold yet, so it’s difficult to forecast what might be coming down the line for Ford. But it has managed to capture America’s attention yet again with the Bronco revival.

When will the 2021 Ford Broncos be available?

Ford hasn’t yet attached an availability date to the 2021 Bronco. It has kept potential buyers waiting since the announcement, only mentioning that we should be able to purchase the new Bronco “later this year“.

All the pricing data announced so far has been tremendously generous for the class, and with Ford’s intent to make the best base model possible we could see plenty of first-time buyers in Broncos soon.

On the Ford website, buyers can reserve one of the new Broncos (currently available in every trim except First Edition) for as low as $100. If you’ve been waiting for a Bronco and saving your money for decades, the First Edition might be right up your alley. It’s priced at over $60,000 but just like the base model, it might just be worth the money.

If you’re an avid off-roader looking for your next vehicle, the 2021 Ford Bronco might have arrived right on time. The available trims allow it to be configured as a near-luxury vehicle, but the base model is just fine for most buyers’ needs.

Whether you’re looking to go off-roading or you just want something a little more rugged for the daily drive, the 2021 Ford Bronco does a lot at a very reasonable price.
