What is one thing that everyone knows about Subaru? It’s that they are safe. But how many safety features come standard? Do you have to pay more to make your Subaru even safer? For the 2021 Subaru Forester, the answer is yes.

The 2021 Subaru Forester just got safer

The 2021 Subaru Forester is receiving a price increase of $440 over the 2020 model because it’s gaining even more standard safety features. If the 2020 Subaru Forester strikes your fancy, it comes with standard all-wheel drive, active lane control, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Now for 2021, the Subaru Forester will also come with new adaptive LED headlights to increase visibility at night, automatic headlights, and a  backseat seatbelt reminder to make sure each passenger buckles in. These new safety features will help the Subaru Forester rival options such as the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CR-V.

What else is new for the 2021 Subaru Forester?

The 2021 Subaru Forester base model begins around $25,845. Part of the price bump includes the destination fee raising from $1,010 to $1,050. We would like to compare this price to the 2021 Toyota RAV4, but that information hasn’t been released yet.

In the base model Forester, you’ll find a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 182-hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired with a CVT transmission. This is the engine that you’ll find in all five trim options for the 2021 Subaru Forester.

Also, the base model comes with a whole two USB ports and a 6.5-inch infotainment center. It can connect to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but here’s the wild part. It still comes with a CD player! But, sorry, smokers, there is no lighter.

But for about $28,485, you can upgrade to the Subaru Forester Premium trim for a few more bells and whistles. It comes with a panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, keyless entry, remote start, roof rails, heated side mirrors, a 10-way power adjustable seat, and snazzy 17-inch black alloy wheels.

Higher Subaru Forester trim options

For around $30,445, you can wheel off in the Subaru Forester Sport model that includes even more safety features. This trim comes with blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert. The CVT also has a 7-speed manual mode.

You will also get 18-inch black wheels, a rear spoiler to promote your sportiness, orange trim pops, and grey cloth upholstery that features orange stitching and accents. But the Sport isn’t faster than other models.

The Limited trim for $32,445 adds more comfort with a voice-activated dual climate control zone, leather seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear shifter, and a power liftgate. A few exterior accents are also included.

The 2021 Subaru Forester Touring is the cream of the crop and begins around $35,945. You get exclusive 18-inch black wheels, LED fog lights, and power-folding mirrors. You also get a leather interior, heated rear seats, and a driver attention monitor and silver accents.

There isn’t anything besides the new standard safety features to be excited about. The models are pretty close to the 2020 Subaru Forester models. Also, we’re pretty surprised that there isn’t a manual or turbo option.
