Driving a fast vehicle can feel exhilarating, but when we see those blue lights in the rear-view mirror, the consequences aren’t that fun. That being said, some vehicles are more prone to getting pulled than others. MotorTrend compiled a list of the cars most likely to get busted for breaking the speed laws, and in a shocking twist, the Subaru Impreza comes in at No. 3.

Which vehicles made the naughty list?

Most of the vehicles on the MotorTrend list are exactly what you’d think they’d be. Unsurprisingly, Dodge seemed to have the most speedsters. The Dodge Charger, the Challenger, and the Dart made their appearance on the list. Other cars include the Infiniti G37, the Volkswagen GTI, and the Nissan 350Z.

In a twist, a truck made the list as well. The Ram 2500 came in at No. 8, with 14.79 percent of its drivers getting a speeding ticket. 

The Subaru WRX earned the top spot, with 20.49 percent of its drivers getting pulled over. Given the fact that the WRX is the car Subaru chooses to go with in races, this isn’t that big of a surprise. But how exactly did the Impreza get on this list?

How do you speed in an Impreza?

Subaru Imprezas aren’t built for speed. They might not be as great for off-roading as the Legacy, but it’s definitely not made for racing.

According to MotorTrend, “the Impreza attracts practical-minded buyers thanks to its comfortable ride, spacious interior, and excellent forward visibility. But most models are, well, slow, so we’re a little surprised this one’s on the list. Today’s Impreza produces just 152 hp from a non-turbo flat-four engine.”

And yet 15.90 percent of Impreza drivers have gotten a speeding ticket. Given all the other vehicles that made the list, the Impreza sticks out like a sore thumb. 

The 2020 Subaru Impreza

While the 2020 Subaru Impreza is not built for speed, it still has a lot going for it. In fact, the Impreza can go head to head with the Honda Civic and hold its own.

The 2020 Impreza has a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder Boxer engine that produces 152 hp and 145 lb-ft. There are two options for the transmission. There is a CVT transmission, and a five-speed manual, which is great for anyone who actually likes driving a stick shift. The Impreza also comes with an incredibly smooth ride that rivals many luxury vehicles.

The fuel mileage is actually pretty amazing for a gas based car, as well. The 2020 Subaru Impreza gets 27 city and 36 highway. It comes with AWD, just as all Subarus do, so this means that driving in any type of weather is far more manageable. Even better is the fact that you don’t have to shell out extra money for this feature.

The interior has a lot to love as well. It comes with a sport-cloth interior with contrast stitching, an 8-inch touchscreen display, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. 

There are a ton of safety features that make driving a smooth and stress-free experience. Some of the features that come standard include blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, a rear vision camera, and reverse automatic braking. For a little more money, drivers can get EyeSight, which prevents things like steering out of your lane, and an automatic pre-collision braking system.

With a starting price tag of $24,000, it’s easy to see why so many people are drawn to the Subaru Impreza. It still remains a mystery as to why so many get caught speeding in it, but it might have to do with the smooth ride. After all, it’s easy to pick up some serious speed when you don’t feel like you’re actually going that fast.
