What is the difference between the 2022 and 2023 Tesla Model 3 Long Range?
The Tesla Model 3 Long Range is very similar from 2022 to 2023. However, the 2022 model year saw the adoption of the lithium-ion-phosphate battery pack instead of the nickel-cobalt-aluminum unit. The battery pack update increased the range of the Model 3 across the lineup.
Still, the Long Range trim dropped off Tesla’s website for nearly a year when fans expected a 2023 model. Fortunately for fans who still want the added range benefits of the middle-trim Model 3, it’s available again.
What is the real range of a Tesla 3 Long Range?
Tesla says the 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range has a range of around 358 miles on a single charge. However, now that the new 2023 model is available, the electric automaker cites a 325+ mile range.
That’s disheartening, given the previous model’s impressive range estimates. Moreover, in Car and Driver’s real-world economy testing, the test model managed around 84 MPGe. Unfortunately, the test results weren’t anywhere near the EPA estimates of 138 MPGe. Still, the Long Range trim has one of the most extensive single-charge ranges at its price point.
How much is a Tesla Model 3 Long Range?
The new 2023 Tesla Model 3 Long Range starts at around $47,240. That’s a welcome decrease from last year’s model, which started at about $52,190, per TrueCar.
Still, the Model 3 Performance costs around $6,000 more than the Long Range trim. As a result, the Long Range trim is the most well-rounded option in the model’s lineup. With dual-motor eAWD, over 325 miles of single-charge range, and impressive performance, the mid-level Model 3 is a Swiss Army Knife among the automaker’s cheapest EVs.
Is the Model 3 Long Range still fast?
Although the 2023 Model 3 Long Range gets a price cut and reduction in EPA estimated range, the model is still a serious performer. Specifically, Tesla says the new Long Range trim will hit 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, about as fast as a 485-horsepower Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack.
