Don’t let the SUV craze fool you, America is still obsessed with trucks. It doesn’t matter if it’s an electric truck or a regular old F-150, Americans just love a good truck. In fact, the three best-selling vehicles in the U.S. so far this year have all been trucks. Here’s a quick look at these best-selling trucks.

Chevrolet Silverado

Even though the United Auto Workers strike has been threatening Chevy’s production of the Silverado, it’s still selling pretty well so far this year. According to Car and Driver, over 410,000 Silverados have been sold so far. That said, the Silverado has been selling worse compared to last year, as its light-duty version has dropped by 0.6% in sales and its heavy-duty version has dropped by 12%.

Despite that, Americans still love the Silverado as Chevy has introduced a lot of perks and features in the 2019 model year. Not only has Chevy expanded the amount of cargo and passenger space that the Silverado has, but Chevy’s also introduced several new trims for the Silverado.

These trims start at about $30,000 for the base model and they can go up to over $54,000 in the more luxurious trims. Drivers of the Silverado will also get a lot of engine choices, and these range from the standard 4.3-liter V6 gasoline engine to a 6.2-liter V8 diesel engine. And of course, the Silverado can haul a heavy load, especially with the V8 diesel.

In 2020, Chevy hopes that its extremely fuel-efficient Silverado will bump up its sales.

Ram trucks

Rams usually trail behind the Silverado in terms of sales, but so far this year, Ram has been performing really well. In fact, according to Car and Driver, sales of the Ram Pickup has been up 23% this year compared to last year and that’s why Ram has passed Chevy in terms of sales. Over 460,000 Ram Pickups have been sold so far in 2019 according to Car and Driver.

Ram Pickups have been known to have the same issues but, as far as anyone knows, the latest Rams haven’t experienced this issue yet. That’s definitely helped the latest Ram Pickups, such as the 2019 Ram 1500, which Car and Driver called one of the best trucks of the year.

With so many models and trims available, Ram offers drivers a lot of options based on what they want or can afford. Like any good truck maker, Ram also offers reliable and powerful trucks for hauling heavy things like the Ram 2500

In 2020, Ram will offer a very fuel-efficient truck but Ram also claims that it’ll have the longest range of any pickup truck on the market at 1,000 miles.

Ford F-Series

The best selling vehicle of the year so far is Ford’s F-Series of trucks and it’s by a wide margin. According to Car and Driver, the F-Series has sold over 660,000 trucks so far this year. That’s not a surprise as the F-Series is one of the most popular types of cars out there.

The diesel engines that Ford uses are one of the main reasons why the F-Series is so popular. Not only are they powerful, but they’re also very fuel-efficient too. In fact, the EcoBoost series of diesel engines that Ford uses for the F-Series became so popular that it practically became the must-have engine for a truck.

The F-Series, like the other two trucks on this list, also has a lot of trims and engine options based on what a driver wants or can afford. For the future, Ford is looking ahead of Chevy and Ram and Ford’s already prototyping an all-electric F-150.
