The Top 3 Most Unreliable Cars of 2020
Of all the new options on the market this year, there are bound to be some contenders that struggle. This Consumer Reports list of the most unreliable cars of 2020 gives a detailed reliability to rating to each vehicle it features.
Among others such as the Volkswagen Atlas, the Acura MDX, and the Chrysler Pacifica, there are three at the top of the list –– the Chevrolet Colorado, the Chevrolet Camaro, and the Jeep Wrangler. Those three vehicles make up the top three most unreliable cars of 2020.
The Chevy Colorado
Emerging as one among several redesigns of compact pickup trucks, the Chevy Colorado gets a Consumer Reports overall reliability rating of 4. With a predicted reliability rating of 1 out of 5 and a predicted owner satisfaction rating of 2 out of 5, this Chevrolet pickup truck achieved the lowest reliability rating of 2020.
It’s a rough drive with a pretty low fuel economy. This truck is the least reliable car on Consumer Reports’ 2020 list. Key problem areas include the drive system, the fuel/emissions system, and the transmission.
It does have a few redeeming factors, however, like a decent handle which lends it an OK overall driving experience. In addition to its cornering ability, the Chevrolet Colorado earned a trunk/cargo rating of 4 out of 5 for its ample cargo capabilities.
The Chevy Camaro
Another Chevrolet model is at the bottom of the bucket for reliability ratings. Consumer Reports gave the Chevy Camaro an overall reliability rating of 5.
This common favorite has low fuel efficiency for its class and “horrendous visibility.” To top it off, the Camaro doesn’t offer any type of automatic braking –– something you might want in a vehicle known for speed and performance.
The common problems with the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro include issues with body hardware, transmission, and power equipment. Despite these low reliability ratings, however, people do seem to love their Camaros. This is probably due to the fact that the Camaro earned a 5 out of 5 on every performance spec except fuel economy.
The Jeep Wrangler
The 2020 Jeep Wrangler didn’t fare so well either. Earning a rating of 12 for overall reliability from Consumer Reports, the Jeep Wrangler comes in at third from the bottom. This Jeep model earned a 1 out of 5 for predicted reliability in 2020.
In fact, Consumer Reports gave it pretty poor ratings all the way around. Because Jeep owners are so die-hard in their loyalty, the 2020 Wrangler still achieved a 4 out of 5 for predicted owner satisfaction. Not bad for a vehicle said to have reliability issues with interior electronics and the steering/suspension.
Consumer Reports’ top three least reliable vehicles of 2020
The Chevrolet Colorado and Camaro, along with the Jeep Wrangler rate the worst for reliability, according to Consumer Reports. While they scored ok marks in other areas, all these models are considered the top three least reliable vehicles of 2020.
Others on this list, like the 2020 Tesla Model X, and the 2020 Chevy Traverse, are at least a little more reliable than the Wrangler, Camero, or Colorado. Still, it turns out that even with low reliability ratings, the 2020 Chevy Camaro and Jeep Wrangler still rate high for owner satisfaction.
