The Used Ford Freestyle is the Affordable SUV You Forgot to Look For
There are a lot of options for buying a used SUV, and the older you are willing to buy, the greater your range of options becomes. If you are a fan of Ford SUVs, chances are you have looked at a used Expedition or Explorer, but there is one vehicle most people forgot that Ford even made the Ford Freestyle. In fact, while it’s lesser-known, there are plenty of reasons why it’s a good option for an affordable and reliable used SUV.
The forgotten Ford Freestyle
The Ford Freestyle has been out of production for over a decade, so it makes sense that most drivers forget they even existed. While they weren’t particularly popular vehicles, you could make various arguments for the failure of the Freestyle. For one, the Freestyle was completely overhauled and renamed, becoming the Ford Taurus X, yet another SUV for Ford’s history that many people chose to ignore.
An affordable and decent option
You can find the original model years marked as a Ford Freestyle on the used car market for true bargain-basement prices. It isn’t unusual to find one in decent condition for at, or even under, $5,000, making it an incredibly affordable option if you want a used SUV but want the same Ford reliability. While the car is no longer available, it shared many parts with similar Ford SUVs of the same years, and you can find many of the mechanical components without having to pay an extraordinarily high price.

Affordable and spacious
Owners might complain about the car’s poor handling experience and lack of features, but with the used price, there isn’t much to complain about. The Ford Freestyle surprisingly offers three-rows of seating and an adequate amount of cargo capacity. This makes it a great option for not only a used SUV, but also a great option if you want the additional seating capacity.
The Ford Freestyle is far from the most exciting option for a used SUV, but they are fairly reliable, and above all, they are incredibly affordable. As a full-sized SUV, it offers plenty of space, even if it lacks the standard safety features that we see in newer cars, and is pretty far from being luxurious. For the price, however, it does have a lot to offer.
